Nice central location close to everything.

We arrive late at night and the office was closed but they left us an envelope with a key and all the information we needed. It was nice to just go to bed on arrival.

Nice on the outside, cheap and rundown inside

Posted Aug 24, 2014
From the outside the hotel looks nice and 2-3 blocks from main streets. Inside is a different story. The condition of the room reminded me of a hostel I stayed at years ago. The towels have been laundered some many times you can see through them. The windows were installed in such a way that the cranks to open them don't clear the shutter and you have to take them off to make 1/2 turns to open/close windows. Whenever someone closes their door the sound carries so well you'd think it was the door to your room. The breakfast consists of some bagels and sliced bread to toast and a Belgium waffle iron. For well over $200/night tax, this really underwhelming.

Can't think of a single redeeming feature

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Cons: Everything !
We stayed one night and thankfully that was all. We waited in the lobby for a good 10 minutes before anyone came to attend to us. The receptionist was short with me when I was checking in and gave what felt like a lecture with rules (parking, breakfast etc) than a friendly overview of the inn. The room was awful. I had booked a family suite which was shown as a king and two singles but the two singles were actually a pull out bed and pulling out the trundle would have made it impossible to get to the bathroom without stepping over the bed. The room had cobwebs, not fresh but the old haunted house full of dust kind. When we switched on the ceiling light the glass bowl was full of dead flies. The bedside tables had ring marks and were chipped. Honestly I thought it had been furnished from a thrift store. The bathroom was positively vintage in every way with the thinnest prison issue towels and a paltry selection of toiletries, of no known brand. Breakfast was meager at best with the bare minimum of food available. Four slices of bread, one bagel, four mini muffins, empty coffee pot, two English breakfast tea bags and a bowl of cheap margarine - not even butter. There was even a sign asking us to clear our own tables and take the dishes through to the kitchen and it was only then I noticed hard boiled eggs hiding there presumably to deter guests from eating them. The napkins were folded sheets of kitchen roll. I'm sure there are better hotels in Carmel.

Location was ok - a couple blocks from main street

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: Location was ok.
Cons: Updating - linens, beds, everything basically
Hotel was disappointing - esp for the price we paid. Little things could be done to improve this hotel. Bedspreads, linens and towels were awful and dated! The bath towels are very small and thin. No air conditioning. "Fireplace" was disappointing as it was just controlled through a thermostat on wall and not wood buring and could not even see thru the fireplace glass. Breakfast only included toast and waffles - and a few bananas. Won't stay here again.

Pros: parking on premises was available
beds were old, and overall facilites were outdated and worn out. the price should be $20.00 a night. Got itches from the bed.

Good location but in bad condition

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Dog friendly and good location.
Cons: Needs an upgrade. Furniture, carpets, and bathroom are worn and in need of repair.
In need of remodel, very run down considering the high rate. Is dog friendly which is why we stayed there.

Not bad but overpriced.

Great location. Nice courtyard. Free parking. Dog friendly. Expensive for what you get unless you need the trundle bed in the oversized closet, at which point it would make more sense economically. Very noisy if you're off the parking lot, perhops because of the 4th of July but it didn't get quiet until after 2am. Room decor poor. Carpet OLD and spotted. Bathroom very clean but musty smelling. Breakfast simple. Afternoon wine & cheese nice. Staff friendly. We recommend you check with Carmel tourist office for other options in same area.

Pros: It close to the shops is Carmel.
Cons: Everything need to be rehabbed!
Location: You can walk to the beach, but it a long slog back up the hi;;
We came on a Sunday, and walked to the Beach. It took a long time to get back up the hill.
