Great first experience!

Pros: The breakfast and the amazing staff
Cons: Rooms are small, but considering this is an original building I would rather take the small room than have them demolish it to make it bigger.
Location: Very close to the beach!
This was my first experience with a bed and breakfast, and I loved it. From the beginning the staff was very pleasant and helpful, particularly Kent. We were constantly in and out of there since we were in Monterey for a wedding, and any time we stopped and had a question the staff was more than willing to help. They were friendly and offered all the information we needed. By far the best part was when we were told that "cookies will be provided all throughout bedtime". Bedtime! The room was adorable. I find it silly that people complain about the size of the rooms or the noises they hear outside. These are old homes that have been preserved and given historical landmark status. Why would they go and ruin that by bulldozing walls down to make them thicker? Why would they put brand new bed frames, when it's supposed to have a cozy, old-fashioned feel? How can you possibly complain about SEAGULLS at a BEACH LOCATION?? It was a small room, yes. But these are original foundations, original rooms. I don't expect a giant suite. We had a bed more than big enough for two people. Our room did not have a tv, but as I said previously we were always in and out of the room so that really didn't effect us at all. The breakfast was fabulous. I got a delicious tomato, cheese and mushroom frittata that was included with our room. They even gave us extra bacon no charge! We explored the grounds a little bit too after the wedding, and it was great. There's a little trail you can

If you're staying near the street bring ear plugs.

Posted May 20, 2014
Nice looking hotel, friendly and pleasant staff and it ends about there. If you're staying next to the entry be prepared for people slamming doors. The windows are single pane so you can hear everything. The worse thing is cars driving by or the fact that it sounds like people passing by are right in your room. We had to go get ear plugs just to be able to sleep through the night. The walls are pretty thin. Our room was right next to the lobby and you could hear everyone talking and the staff preparing for breakfast early the next day. It was also possible to hear the toilet flushing and the lid slamming from the room across the hall. The breakfast is ok nothing to write home about. Maybe guest enjoy the rooms at different parts of the hotel but if you're next to the street, or even worse next to the entry way be prepared to not sleep.

Victorian B&B

Posted May 15, 2014
Cons: Traffic noise; need wheel locks on the bed.
Problem was traffic noise through the night. Location was wonderful: cute garden patio, easy walking to sites and the ocean. Did miss a tv after a two night stay.

Old fashioned bed and breakfast

Posted May 12, 2014
Pros: Chimney in the reception area can be used by visitors.
Too expensive given the quality. Rooms are small and the victorian design is done with a poor modern taste. Unfriendly staff.

Great location, charming

Great location, just a few blocks from the ocean. Beautiful building with lush gardens. Our room was small but cozy and comfortable. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great! This was everything we had hoped for and more, especially given the location and the price.

Characterful & pretty hotel

Pros: We chose this hotel because we love characterful American Victorian houses, and it certainly didn't disappoint! It was beautiful throughout.
Cons: Our room overlooked a tiny inner courtyard and was very gloomy as a result, we had to have the lights on all the time even on bright summer mornings.

We chose this hotel because we love characterful American Victorian houses, and it certainly didn't disappoint! It was beautiful throughout and full of lovely things. It's in a lovely area, full of beautiful Victorian houses (as is most of San Francisco!) with plenty of small restaurants nearby, and close to a bus route to the city centre. The only disappointing this was that our room overlooked a tiny inner courtyard and was very gloomy as a result, we had to have the lights on even on bright sunny mornings. We asked to change but were told that for our price bracket that was all that was available. I recommend people ask for an outside room at the time of booking.

Not quaint ... just really small

Pros: Chocolate chip cookies
Room was a little bigger than a broom closet, no TV, extremely limited parking. Staff was friendly and efficient and food was good

Cute little inn with great breakfast

Posted Mar 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
Cute little inn in Pacific Grove, a short drive to Cannery Row. The room and bathroom were very nice (slightly small, but we only stayed for a night so it didn't matter that much). Great amenities - coffee available all day and a delicious breakfast in the morning. Check-in is only until 9, but we called ahead when we thought we would be late and they were very nice about being available, although we ended up getting there before then anyway. The surrounding area doesn't have a ton of nightlife, but it's a cute little beach town and a short walk to a few places open later.
