Equipment rentals and lessons are available on the beach, and the hotel provides surf equipment storage.
More surfing is available a mile away at Steamer's Lane, where the waves are bigger and better for more advanced surfers. Monterey Bay is known for its sportfishing, kayaking, and sailing. The Aptos/Seascape Golf Course is 10 miles from the hotel.

The Dream Inn Santa Cruz, a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel, is currently upgrading its children’s wading pool. The previous wading pool has been removed and construction on a new one will begin in November 2012. During the months of May-November 2012 the children's wading pool will not be available.
The hotel apologizes for this inconvenience, but we know that the new ADA compliant children's wading pool, when completed, will be a much appreciated addition to our pool facilities.
