I would not suggest staying here.

This hotel is run down and not kept up well. There were stains all over the carpet, rust in the shower, the whole place is old and out of date. The bed is a really old spring mattress that is extremely uncomfortable and nothing felt clean. The front desk was not overly friendly and even the lobby was messy and dirty. Spend a little more money and stay somewhere nice.

Definition of a budget motel

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Price! Location! Air conditioning. Safe for valuables.
Cons: Breakfast was a joke, even for a continental breakfast. It was literally juice and toast and some store bought pastry. No cream for the coffee.
Location: Anything in Monterey or Carmel is close.
I wouldn't normally stay somewhere this cheap. It's not as nice as say, a marriott or hilton. But for less than half the price of those hotels, we took our chances so we could splurge on activities, like the aquarium and dining at pebble beach. Yes there is mold on the ceiling in the bathroom (no fan), and I couldn't even begin to count how many layers of old paint, not to mention a funky smell. But honestly, it was clean in all the places that mattered. The sheets had no suspicious stains, no bed bugs, the bathroom had new tile and a new sink and toilet. The carpet looked fairly new. For the price we paid, it was actually better than expected. I would stay there again with budget in mind. But I can see how it wouldn't meet some people's standards.

Dirty carpet.

Pros: Clean bathroom. Hot shower.
Cons: Get carpets professionally steam cleaned. Tell the truth. Have free ice.
Location: Monterey is beautiful and has beaches and the Aquarium. These are well worth seeing but stay somewhere else when you some to Monterey.
The carpet had visible crud on it when we arrived. I asked at the desk and they sent someone to vacuum it but it still did not really feel clean after that. I asked for an extra pillow the second night and they said they told me at check in you had to ask for a second pillow at check in if you wanted one. This is a lie, they had not told me that when I checked in. On the up side the bathroom was very clean and the shower had hot water and good pressure. The ice machine cost a quarter to get ice. I have never seen this elsewhere and it is simply cheap and tacky.

You get what you pay for...

Pros: I could park right outside my room.
Cons: Put some money into an improvement plan. I paid too much for this experience.
Location: Must be close to the airport because the planes would wake me up.
The chairs were stained. There are only 3 outlets...one behind the bed, one in the bathroom, and one by the tv that is a full surge protector and has EVERYTHING plugged into it (tv, coffeepot, fridge, etc). The internet connection would drop, but since you couldn't conveniently plug in a lap top by the desk, there was no sense in trying to do anything. The coffee maker is situated so you pour water directly over the surge protector. The shower door didn't close all the way. The shower head leaked (save some water people). There was no soap dish or shelf in the shower, so had to use one of the plastic cups to hold soap. The mattress cover was ripped. The television is old; possibly from the '80s. Couldn't even read the scroll at the bottom of the tv screen. There was litter outside in the landscape, and the shrubs need trimming.

I picked this motel because it was one of the few that had a pool. When I arrived, the grounds were filthy. Trash everywhere. The rooms were ok, soft bed. Kids got ready to go swimming, and the pool was disgusting. Trash and dirty diapers floating on top. The spa was green and dirty. Will not be going back.

Good, honest, inexpensive motel

Pros: Easy freeway access. Good rates. Free coffee in the morning. Fridge and microwave in room.
Cons: Intake receptionist was efficient but could've been friendlier.
Room was comfortable. Nice to have a fridge and microwave. We also had a kitchenette (that wasn't furnished but could've been useful if we'd known ahead of time). A little bit of airplane noise since it's close to the airport, but the planes are small so no big deal.

Good budget motel

Posted Jan 24, 2014
My overall stay was very good. For a budget motel I've seen a lot worse. Pros: fridge, microwave, free wifi, free continental breakfast, free parking, satellite cable, comfy bed, extra table to have a meal. By car close to everything. Cons: room decor doesn't match and is outdated, poor quality tv, no where to plug in my laptop, power strip sitting on dresser with all outlets in use (not safe for my 3 yr old), carpet dirty. Breakfast was poor, although free, consists of stale cereal, danish, juice, coffee milk. There are numerous obvious problems to point out at any budget motel, but overall, a woman traveling with her child, I felt safe and felt I had everything I needed.
