"Great Family Hotel"
Posted Jan 12, 2013
Pros: New Addition, Comfortable Bed, Helpful Staff
Cons: Better lighting in bathroom to put makeup on for females
Location: Close to Wharf, Cannary Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium
We have stayed at the Abrego Hotel several time over the last few years, but this is the first time we have stayed in the new addition. It was Excellent, everything from the bed being really comfortable ( because sometimes we don't sleep well way from home, but not this time), to the nice deep tub in the bathroom. The only negative was there could have been some better lighting in the bathroom as a female putting on makeup it seemed a little dark. The desk staff was always very friendly, in fact after we checked out and left that morning my husband realized later that he had left his cell phone in the room. He called the front desk and they went up to the room and found the phone and kept it at the desk most of the day until we returned to pick it up.

Hotel Abrego, comfort without a hefty price tag
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: The bed, it was really comfortable!
Cons: The refrigerator was very small.
Location: Very handy to the main shops, nice flat easy walk down the road.
Hotel Abrego was very pleasant, really comfortable beds, generous sized rooms, no extra charges for parking. The room featured a fireplace which we didnt need to use as we were there in May. They had an onsite laundry room, a little hard to find but we managed it. An easy walk down to the shops and local restaurants and 5 mins further to the waterfront area. Staff were pleasant, helpful and we enjoyed our stay, I would stay here again! I picked up the booking via an Expedia deal so the rates were very good in comparison.

Little pricey but nice for families
Posted Jan 28, 2013
Pros: The fireplace was very romantic but the layout didn't allow us to enjoy it as much as we'd like
This was my first time staying at this hotel and overall I had a good experience. My husband and I came with our two girls and the room was a good size, clean and comfortable. The only drawback was that the restaurant was open at certain times so we always had to leave the grounds to go eat. Overall good experience, although it was a little pricey.

Nice boutique hotel
Posted Jan 20, 2013
Cons: As mentioned, bathroom lighting and ventilation.
Clean, attractive, good location. New chef who's great, but menu and restaurant hours are limited. No room service. The tap/ drinking water really tasted bad, in my opinion. Inadequate lighting and ventilation in bathroom, but nice shower.

We stayed 1-night at the hotel and it was very nice. We had a big room. The hotel staff was very nice and friendly. Especially Laura in the restaurant. We had breakfast and the service was great!

Very nice hotel

Pros: The wide room, with several features including a fireplace.
Cons: Nothing from my perspective
Location: A lot of attractions nearby such as Carmel, Point Lobos and Monterey Bay.
A very nice hotel with some luxury details. Only stayed for a short night but would definitely go back again.

Enjoyed location but room above kitchen/dining
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: Esthetics & friendly staff
Cons: CLOSE THAT ROOM!!! No one wants it... trust me!!!
Location, esthetics, and staff were great! However, we booked a room with a fireplace (room 1311) and it was DIRECTLY ABOVE the kitchen/bar/dining room! It was great to have a window that would open & have fresh air in, but we had to keep it closed because of the kitchen exhaust (smell!). In addition we weren't able to sleep in because of the noise from early bird guests eating at 6:30am! I would stay there again but I would ask for a room FAR AWAY from the dining area!!!

Great place to stay in Monterey
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: Lush towels and bathrobes to wear to the pool, fresh, new -looking bedding (no icky blankets), very clean and attractive and lovely grounds.
Cons: Excessive heat in the room and comforters that were too warm and heavy.
Location: Very convenient for downtown Monterey
Our room was too warm and the front desk told us that we could not adjust the temperature in the room, so we opened the sliding door and they gave us an electric fan. This is something you might expect in a cheap motel, not in a hotel like the Abrego. Other than this, the room was quiet (we were lucky to be on the back side) and very nicely appointed. Except for the excessive heat, it was a wonderful place to stay in Monterey.
