“Usual visitor”
This is the place to stay. Centrally located to walk to every place but Carmel. The rooms are similar to a time share rather than hotel.
“Home (office) away from home.”
I love the coziness of this property. Within walking distance of major attractions. The size of the rooms are great with a small patio to enjoy lounging outside as well. Only wish wi-fi was included instead of a separate charge. This place is good for business as well as family travel. Don't miss the breakfast in the morning.
“Cozy”
Stayed here for the first time in years and was not at all disappointed, particularly given some of the negative reviews I read before booking. My room was nicely updated and bigger than I remembered from my previous stay. Included were quality touches like hardwood floors, granite counters, two showers, a huge LED tv and a working fireplace. The proximity to the convention center and downtown Monterey is perfect and quite convenient.
“Not bad!”
Good hotel overall. Nice to have a fireplace. My room was on the street so the balcony was not used and there was traffic noise if door or windows were open. Couch really needed to be cleaned, stains and spots.
“Monterey's best hotel!”
Great Location, spacious rooms with comfortable bed. Close to all major attractions. Very clean and friendly service.
“Not as I remembered”
Overall a great location and unique hotel with a rustic decor, however the bigger (double) rooms are a lot less cozy and comfortable than what we remembered 5 years ago in a single room. It took hours for the room to heat up from 50 degrees to 70 degrees because they did not have forced air heating. We liked the noon check-out time and the continental breakfast was satisfactory, although the lobby was not in a convenient location to the room.
“Great place to stay”
Great location. The breakfast was nice.
“We will definitely be returning”
Our stay was wonderful. We were upgraded to the premier jr suite and it was beautiful. The price was great for such an amazing room. The only thing that I didn't like was that we had to pay $20 to park in their parking facility.
“Great location!”
This was a great hotel. Close to Fisherman's Wharf and downtown Monterey. Beautiful room and courtyard. Quiet and clean. Perfect for couples or families.
“Should've read the reviews...”
A nice location... Be sure to park exacatly where the daytime garage sentry directs you (far from the lobby/check-in area) or else... you will get a cold welcome from the receptionist as he politely informs you that there is a one less-than-a-jackson fee to park in the hotel garage. The Junior Suite was nice and included a large flat screen under-powered by an analog signal from last century. The "honor bar" menu showed lots of over-priced items. In reality there were a few candy bars and two sodas in the fridge. The menu mentioned a charge "if the hi-speed internet cable" was removed from the room- there was no sign if it anyhwere. WiFi - for a fee. The floor? Hardwood and definiity no-slip. It was just OK. I wouldn't stay there again. I couldn't escape this nagging idea that the Hotel looks down on guests who book with an online service and makes up the discounted rates by nickel and diming...
