great end to a vacationPosted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Location, room furnishings, friendly staff
Cons: parking in the garage was limited and tight spaces
Location: close to Bart to go into San Fransisco, neat town
We finished up a wonderful vacation with friends at Hotel Pacific. The place is beautiful, rooms large and nicely furnished, bed very comfy, nice bathroom with nice shampoo and lotions. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious! I wish we had time to enjoy the pool area and spa, will have to go back!

We had a mini suite. It was huge with it's own entrance on the street and were able to park right outside the door. The room was not the cleanest. One of the trashcans was not emptied and the wood floors were gritty like they only swept and did not mop. The location was great, though and we were only there one night.

Right price and location.Posted Sep 18, 2014
Excellent location at a very reasonable price, only a short walk to Old Fisherman's Warf. Hotel staff very friendly and helpfully, accommodation spacious, well equipped and clean. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Nice hotel in old Monterey.Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Roomy comfortable mini-suites. Nice continental breakfast.
Cons: Reception desk did not impress with their customer service.
We have stayed at Hotel Pacific a couple of times before, and wanted to stay again on a recent return trip to Monterey. The mini-suites are roomy and comfortable, and the location is good -- close to Fisherman's Wharf and Old Monterey; close enough to Cannery Row and the aquarium. Once we were checked in, our stay was as nice as we had hoped it would be. However, we were very disappointed with how our reservation was managed by the hotel. We had placed a non-changeable, non-refundable reservation through Expedia. When we arrived to check-in, though, the person at the reception desk said our reservation had been canceled. After implying that was our fault, he then blamed one of his colleagues for mistakenly canceling our reservation during their nightly audit. He eventually did the right thing and got us into a room, but it was a bad experience that reflected poorly on the Hotel Pacific. Fortunately, the rest of our stay was pleasant and we had a fun time in Monterey.

Pros: Overall, clean and spacious, and the rooms were designed with a very good layout.
Very big room for a junior suite. There was a good sized living room area with a microwave and refrigerator. Temperatures were a little weird because as I did not make any adjustments in my room, the temperature was about 70-75 but we had also booked 2 other rooms for my family and one of the rooms was very hot. My sister had adjusted the temperature in their room but it was still hot and when I asked the staff about the A/C being broken, they said they didn't have A/C. However my aunt was in another room and she said when she adjusted her thermostat, her room got pretty cool.

It's a great hotel if you are deaf...Posted Sep 15, 2014
Nice hotel. Very accommodating staff. Absolutely noisiest hotel I've even stayed at...& I've stayed A LOT of places!!! We were actually having conversations with our neighbors- through the walls. Not sure if it's because it's all wooden floors...?

Ain't what she used to be.....parking not includedPosted Sep 14, 2014
Pros: Close to Fisherman's Warf .
Cons: Fix AC, have an early bird breakfast. Use appropriate bedding to match the temperature...that heavy comforter would be great during a snow storm.
I stayed there many years ago and when the price popped up I thought I was getting a deal. I was wrong! As soon as I checked in I was hit with an unexpected $20 per day parking fee...I think expedia should include this fee on their website. When I opened the room it was extremely hot. I had to keep the door open because there are no screened windows to open and no working air conditioner. Went back to the front desk and complained about the room being hot and they said there is no AC in the hotel....there was a thermostat that went to 50 degrees.... and was given 2 small fans and kept the door open which opens to a busy noisy street. Monterey temperature was 72 but it was at least 85 all night in this room. Had to get 2 more fans the second day... it helped but for the price this is a ripoff. I was on a golf vacation with early tee times and the free breakfast was not available by the time I needed to leave so I had to eat off site. My wife said it was just OK, not as good as it was in the past. Got back from golfing at 4:00 and the room had not been made. Fist time I have ever had to sit around while 2 people cleaned the room. Not what I expected from a hotel close to Fisherman's Warf. Carpet was gross looking leading to the bathroom...needed to be cleaned or replaced. Front door had many fingerprints. Suites on the street side are noisy from traffic and there are many trucks because of the downtown area.

Great location!Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: location, room size, friendly staff
Very pleased we decided to stay at the Hotel Pacific. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was HUGE and lovely! The location was only a 5 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf and some of Monterey's historic buildings. Cannery Row was only 1 mile away, but we decided to drive as this was on our way out of town. Only minor complaint: breakfast was fine, but I've paid less at hotels and received more.

Great location but.........Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Location, easy on/off major street into Monterey, good parking facility (although $20/night!).
Cons: Add air conditioning, upgrade breakfast a bit.
Location: Hotel is easy walk to all "downtown" Monterey (lots of restaurants, etc) and walkable to Cannery Row (about 15-20 minutes).
My wife and I decided fairly late to go to Monterey for Labor Day weekend. I did searching and decided to try Hotel Pacific since we knew the location (normally we stay at the Marriott just down the street) and the rates were good for Labor Day at least. After booking I read some of the reviews and was pretty amazed at the real diversity of opinions! Lots of really good and really poor reviews intermixed. I was a little uneasy as my wife can be very picky about our rooms. However, I must say we didn't see much at all of the "bad" comments. The hotel is an older property and it shows in the overall design (narrow hallways, small elevators, etc) but the property was clean, including the basement garage. The room was quite big (we did upgrade to junior suite, which may make a big difference) and on the back side. The lack of air conditioning is the biggest single minus to us, as it was warm and the window opened out into a very small outer space so breezes were pretty much non-existent. You can tell this is wood construction because there is little sound deadening, although it wasn't really objectionable during our two nights (other than family with young kids that were a bit noisy in the hall, but you gotta expect that!). The breakfast is pretty limited, but it is "continental" so you can't expect eggs and bacon. Overall this is nice older hotel in great location. Staying in cooler months would solve the lack of A/C. Upgrade to the Jr Suite is my recommendation!
