“Did the job.”
No complaints. I got what I paid for in a tourist area. Was situated by other hotels, walking distance (0.5 miles) to restaurants, slightly further to the warf, and not located on a loud, busy street.
“Comfortable; good location”
We have stayed here numerous times and have always been satisfied with our stay. Management has always been accommodating and pleasant. The location is also good.
“Perfect location”
Centrally located to everything. Nice motel. Clean. Very nice breakfast room.
“Okay for a short stay”
The hotel was okay. I stayed for two nights, and I felt that was enough. Any longer would have been a drag. The hot tub, the comfortable bed, and the cable t.v. were the best qualities. There wasn't really a presence of the hotel staff, though they cleaned the room quite nicely when I was gone after the first night. There was a gaping hole in my bathroom window's screen, which made me paranoid of theft. There was a creepy hole in the wall behind the closed door with spiderwebs and exposed wires. The towels had questionable stains on them. The breakfast room was pleasant, with a nice continental breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to those who aren't going to spend a whole lot of time in the hotel, but just need a place to rest the head at night. Good for a drunken party weekend where you don't care where you sleep.
“Nice location; old motor lodge; terrible service”
This is your old-school, traditional "motor lodge," probably built like in the 1950's, and just old. It is what it is. The room is not bad for what it is. If you just need a place to crash for the night on the edge of downtown Monterey, it's not a bad option. The attitude and service, or lack thereof, from the owners was the worse part. They were unfriendly and unprofessional and I would not stay there ever again just because of that. I asked for a late check-out and they refused to give me more than a HALF hour because supposedly at 11.00AM sharp (their check-out time) a bunch of buses were gonna roll in and they needed my room right then at 11AM. And then when I did check out I stopped by the office to speak with them about something important and they refused to come out of the back room which sounds like their living quarters. They just blatantly refused to come out. And my room had lots of noise issues they never would resolve, and was right next to the laundry room/utility room (their industrial washing machines were on and spinning at SEVEN AM!). So yeah if you don't expect much, and just need a cheap room for the night, which was me that night, go for it and it won't be the end of the world or anything.
“OK location, OK room, bad service, bad breakfast, health code violations”
We booked this room with short notice over the July 4th weekend. It was the only room we could find in downtown Monterey - the usual places we stay were all booked. Good: - Location. on the edge of downtown. Can walk to Fishermans Wharf and the trolley to the Aquarium. - The room was OK - a spacious 2 queen room in the newer three story building across the street. This was advertised as an "ocean view" room for ~$10 extra per night. Large windows and you could see the Bay in the distance (over the expanse of other motels and buildings). Room had a fridge and microwave - but had to twiddle with the knobs to get the microwave to work. I'm glad we paid the extra - the rooms in the main building seemed older, smaller, and more dingy. Bad: - Very poor service. I have never stayed at a motel which refused a request for an extra blanket or pillows (my daughter was using an air mattress on the floor). Instead they pushed getting a rollaway cot for an extra fee per night. - The hot tub was on, open, and available to quests even though there was a County health code violation sign right outside the door prohibiting its use. - The "Continental Breakfast" consisted of 7-Eleven quality prepackaged pastries and cereal (bulk Corn Flakes or Fruit Loops). - Missing light bulb in lamp next to the bed, the open socket easily accessible to small children.
“Inexpensive and convenient”
The hotel was adequate for our needs. Quiet neighborhood, with a couple of really good restaurants within walking distance. Also, you can walk to the Trolley stop which will take you directly to either the Aquarium or fisherman's Wharf for FREE. Wish I'd known this sooner (didn't know til our last day there!) - it would have saved us about $35 in parking! ;) The continental breakfast was very minimalist / budget, but at least something to get the day started with. The people at the front desk were very kind, courteous, and helpful. We had an oceanview room, but it was not really worth the extra $10/night we paid for it. Overall, a good budget hotel with convenient location.
“Excellent hotel very reasonable great area, very quiet at night.”
Great location, great service, the staff was very helpful and had suggestions for places to see while we were there. We will use this Hotel again, and I have already recommended it to two other families that are headed to Monterey. Thank you Monterey Downtown Days Inn.
“poor management and service”
The receptionist was not friendly. Internet was not working. Bathroom was dirty and old. Shower was broken. But it was nice to have the harbor view.
“Great Location”
Great location; decent rates; comfortable room; nice management.
