NOISE, NOISE, NOISE and lacked parking

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Comfortable beds. Location pretty good for walking to main street.
Cons: Parking, noise insulation, update very tight bathrooms
Location: Main street Monterey pretty easy walk. Grocery and coffee places within walking. Can get to wharf if you go main street way.
Beds very comfortable and AM desk staff seemed friendly. Location is pretty good as pretty easy walk to main street Monterey and once at the end of that you are the wharf etc. Beyond that this location had issues. Number one being noise. Loud traffic noise. Location at the corner of one main street into Monterey and another very busy one. There is also a bus stop next to one end of the hotel that you can clearly hear in the room, the loud bus as well as the automated announcements made on the bus! Noisy early morning. Woken up three nights, once at 4 AM and twice closer to 5 AM by loud trash trucks picking up and slamming the metal dumpster around (especially when they picked up at the fuel station that is RIGHT in front) and sounds of people rolling carts or wheelie bins around. Super loud in the room. Other guest noise. Not so much the door slamming noise as much as the fact you could hear EVERYTHING from the other guests next door and they were not being loud. Just normal conversation and other noises could clearly be heard in our room. Parking is lacking. VERY few spaces in front of hotel due to almost entire lot being taken up by a busy fuel station. Underground parking is tight and can be full so you may end up parking on the street. If you have a truck you might have height clearance issues. Room cleaning was adequate. New towels, but bedding looked to be reused and just made back up.

Thankgoodness we tripped on this place by accident

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Ticked all boxes for a hospitality stay.
Cons: nothing comes to mind
Location: Aquarium, There are a few cool arcade places around, Louis restaurant was pretty good,( very advertised in the town)
We didn't think we'd end up staying at Monterey. We were supposed to stay in Santa Maria for the night, but Monterey had so much to offer, we decided to stay for the night, we cancelled our booking, and booked a room via expedia and within minutes the room was confirmed. the guy at the counter was knowledgeable about the area and recommended the aquarium ( it is a must go for everyone) The room was spot on. nothing out of place, good lift access made it easier to get to our room on the 2nd level. Great location to the town centre, only 2 minutes drive.

Ok hotel

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Price
Location: Restaurants, major tourists areas are a bit further away..about 20-30 min walk
Ok location but a little far walking from Fisherman's Wharf and VERY far from Cannery Row! There were good restaurants in the area though. Nice pool but we did not get to use. Staff was helpful.

Clean, comfortable, good location.

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: Price, location, and clean.
Cons: A fridge and microwave would be nice.
Location: Free MST Trolley to Cannery Row and Fisherman's Warf. Strongly recommend the 17 mile drive to Carmel, that was beautiful.
The hotel is a convenient location, easy access to the free trolley that goes to the Fisherman Warf and Cannery Row. It's not a bad walk either if you feel like a 10 minute stroll through downtown which has cute shops and restaurants and caf├ęs. The room was clean and pretty modern, the bed is comfortable. I was disappointed there was no fridge or microwave for leftovers, but the price and location was worth the compromise.

Its not a five star hotel but it was clean and updated. Very friendly staff and felt very safe. I would stay here again. There were 5 of us and we slept comfortably in one room, it was very spacious. Very short walk to fisherman's wharf, local restaurants and bars.

Great accommodation at a reasonable price

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: Comfortable and clean room with tv and air conditioning. Close to local shops.
Cons: The air conditioning worked on a thermostat system which was a bit annoying and it wouldn't allow us to turn it off at all.
Location: Monterey isnt overly huge but it is next to a petrol station (not noisy but very convenient), 7 mins from local shops and restaurants,.
Great location in Monterey with a short 7 minute walk to local shops and restaurants. Very friendly staff who were able to advise us where to go.
