Loved it!Posted Oct 13, 2014
Really liked the Svendsgaard Inn! It was clean, the staff was very pleasant and it was in a very convenient location. Great pool, and the continental breakfast delivered at our door every morning was a bonus. Loved it and would definitely stay there again.

Good overall stayPosted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Grounds and rooms were clean.
Cons: Potential have ceiling or floor fans available for the warmer days.
Location: Plenty of shops and restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel.
My wife and I stayed here 1 night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The grounds and room were clean and pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful and they do a nice job bringing the continental breakfast to your room in a lunch pouch. The only downside (and I understand this is rare for Carmel) is that we came during a heat wave and the rooms do not have air conditioning or fans. It would have been nice to at least have a ceiling or floor fan despite the rarity. Overall, this is still a great place to stay and we will come again and recommend to friends.

Nice hotel close to beach and local shopsPosted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Very clean and close to beach and restaurants.
Location: Beautiful beach and nice restaurants.
Quaint hotel / Bed and Breakfast! Very clean and breakfast delivered to the door in the morning a nice touch. No A/C but not necessary as there was a really nice breeze at night. The only negative comment is we were not able to check in at 3. We had to wait an hour or so later - the explanation was they were totally booked the previous evening and our room was not ready. We went to the beach in the interim and were able to check in when we returned.

Small room for two adults.Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Convenience to shops and restaurants.
Cons: Better customer relations.
Location: Excellent location to shops and restaurants
The hotel, though old, is in very good condition and well taken care of. However our room was too small for two people and should be designated a single. When we asked about upgrading to a larger room, they indicated that because there was a third party involved, they would charge us an additional substantial fee. It appeared that they would prefer letting a larger room remain unoccupied than accommodating longtime return customers to preserve good will. We won't return.

Nice hotelPosted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Location good
Cons: The man on reception was a little snobby, when we asked his advice on where to go he just gave us a map of the town so visit the information centre
Location: Right in the heart of Carmel a lovely place to visit.
Lovely hotel, clean , poor choice of tv channels though, reception had coffee and biscuits which was a nice touch. Breakfast adequate delivered to your door.

Budget choicePosted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: The location was convenient.
Cons: The rooms need to be updated - they looked old and smelled stale. I didn't think the breakfast, delivered daily to the room, was necessary.
Location: The location was very close to the core of Carmel - shopping and restaurants were close by.
The hotel was ok but lacked the charm of comparable hotels in the area. I wasn't looking to spend a lot of money but think I could have found a better experience for the same price within a block or two.

One of the perfect places to stay in Carmel!Posted Jul 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
This was one of the best Inns by the Sea in Carmel. Any of them would be a perfect place to stay. Svensgaard Inn was three blocks from the main street of Carmel. The staff treated us so well and the room was a lovely little sanctuary. I liked that this Inn was smaller than the others. For the price, this was a great spot!
