Great old Victorian Hotel, great location, friendly and helpful staff. Staying here is like traveling back in time and a reminder of the old glorious times….

Good location. Great hotel.

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Good location, breakfast, clean rooms, pleasant staff.
Cons: Repair elevators.
Location: Great location.
Overall good experience, however I was not aware that there was no elevator. Three or four flight of stairs several times a day was way too much.

Tired hotel; overpriced with no working elevator

Posted Mar 23, 2015
This place is past its best. We had to drag our luggage up four flights of stairs. There was no one to help us and no consideration for the fact that we're both over sixty.

Regret it

Posted Mar 22, 2015
they could not find my reservation, applied a different rate, breakfast was nothing good! There are no elevators and parking is a little bit of a pain. Leave your car somewhere in the street or pay $17 a day. Location was ok but I would not go back.

Clean, historic hotel close to the action

Posted Mar 15, 2015
Pros: Historic charm, convenient location.
Location: Restaurants, bars, wharf, all close by!
The hotel staff were courteous and helpful, very professional. Check in was easy, especially with valet parking. If you are planning a whale watching tour the next day, this is a great place to stay as it is just a few blocks up from the wharf (walking distance). Rooms are comfortable and everything about the hotel is beautifully preserved from 1902. As every traveler knows, it's best to bring ear plugs with you for the midnight hours. The area surrounding the hotel has alot of bars and theaters that attract alot of party-goers. Loud drunks and screaming idiots were heard all night and there were loud people down the hall also. The restaurants and nightlife are one very good reason to stay at this hotel. Walls seemed paper-thin. Just bring those plugs. I will definitely stay here again.

Good location, great staff

Posted Mar 8, 2015
Pros: As an older building, this hotel has lots of charm. My room had a tray ceiling and crown molding.
Cons: The bed was rather hard, but otherwise this is a nice hotel.
Location: Wonderful restaurants, whale watching cruises, the Convention Center and Monterey Aquarium are all near-by.
This hotel has a great location. It is close to great restaurants, shopping, and even walking distance (about 20 minutes) to the aquarium. The staff is extremely friendly and the rates are reasonable. There is construction going on next door so don't plan to sleep in, but there is too much to do in Monterey to stay in your hotel room anyway!

Nice Hotel with a 1900's feel

Posted Feb 3, 2015
Pros: Very cozy.
Cons: Private parking for guests would be nice.
Location: Bars and restaurants scattered on the same street. Hotel located across a theater where concerts are held.
Nice hotel. Small room with your basics (shampoo, dryer, tv). located near the night life. Windows are thin so if you are a light sleeper, ear plugs are provided in your room. There is no private parking. You will have to leave your car in a public garage near by.
