“Surprisingly nice hotel in a great location”
We were just going to spend a night in Santa Cruz for a concert and happened to book a room here without putting much thought into it. It turned out great! The staff was very welcoming both at the valet and the reception. We got a really nice tower suite with amazing views of Monterey Bay. The room was clean and in good order. The staff continued to be friendly and the service excellent. We may have been fortunate to be there in the off season, but we certainly enjoyed our stay and will come back.
“Not for the disabled and dirty too”
Able bodied travelers will have no trouble with the rooms in the hotel right on the beach. However, the disabled rooms are not set up well. The furniture is low and armless - terrible if you have trouble getting up and down. My parents spent three days confined to their bed because they couldn't sit on the chairs. As for my room, the first thing I noticed was the filthy lid to the ice bucket. Then came the strip of toilet paper on the floor that I didn't pick up...and neither did the maid the next day. Did the maid service just vacuum around it or was there no vacuuming at all? The pidgins were all over my balcony because of the constant stream of water coming from the upper balcony. Also remember that while a balcony in every room sounds great, remember that also means your drunken, noisy neighbors get a balcony too, not to mention the toddler above you who wakes up at 6 to run in and out of the room and scream at the birds. On the good side, the service (with the noticeable exception of housekeeping) is fantastic. The staff is incredible and friendly as can be. There is no better view of the bay to be found in a hotel in Santa Cruz, the hotel is right next to the municipal wharf which has a lot of restaurants and shops and it is very close to the surfing museum and then famous boardwalk. I don't think I would go back to this hotel because of the housekeeping issues and I would never send my parents there again. It was way too difficult of a stay for them.
“Nice to hear the waves at night .....”
Great hotel. A little confusion at the front desk in the morning. When we charged breakfast in the restaurant to our room, the desk couldn't find a record of us being registered (even though they had a copy of our credit card from check-in). So, we paid cash for breakfast and later found out that they had erroneously checked us out somehow at 7:00 a.m. But no record of us? Minor hassle .......
“Awesome views!”
CANNOT BEAT THE EVER-CHANGING SPECTACULAR VIEWS! BEAUTIFUL QUIET ROOM WITH AN EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE BED AND PILLOWS..
“Great Hotel, Amazing Views”
Stayed in a tower suite on the 5th floor directly overlooking the ocean. Excellent decor, great service, very clean rooms. A little different and much more fun than the average hotel. Recommended.
“Best Santa Cruz Beach Hotel”
We have stayed at a dozen different Santa Cruz area hotels and we just love the Dream Inn
“clean and modern”
overal a very decent place , clean and modern with friendly and effficient service . some noise at night but this is not unusaul for a beach hotel where people like to party . stayed there with wife and 3 kids , and they were all happy , did not use their restaurant . A bit overpriced , but not too bad as compared to what the competition offers
“Okay for location to Santa Cruz Wharf”
I think this was an older hotel that had a recent facelift. Nothing radically wrong with the place but the choices were odd. Shower is raised which made it odd to use. Bathroom is tiny with a noisy pocket door.King Size Pillows were "missing some fleathers" ie cheap? so even 2 were not enough. AC had floor level controls..Door threshold had large gap to let in hallway noise. Keurig coffeemaker but horrible tasting coffee. You had to pay to use computer in lobby but it would not allow me to get to email. Views are of Wharf and it's a convenient walk to it' s restaurants. The Aquarius restaurant is fine but not outstanding value. It's okay but the homeless population sleeps under their structure at night.
“Dream Inn meets expectations”
A wonderful location if you like beach watching, pool sitting, listening to waves, and the wonderful scene at the Santa Cruz Pier. Great for walking on the beach or to Playland or out on the pier. A little bit of a hike to Pacific Avenue but worth the walk. Parking is extra...$22/day...OUCH. This is a classic midcentury that has been very tastefully remodeled. Comfortable, clean, and stylish.
“The Dream Inn”
Quality of hotel service - Very helpful and friendly Condition or maintenance of the hotel - Very good condition Cleanliness of the room - Perfect Comfort of the room - very good, the sea sound makes it even more comfortable Convenience of hotel location - The best in town, that's why all the surfer stay here too. Surrounding neighborhood - Very close to beach and 20 mins walk to town. Overall - Our beat stay in our 9 day road trip from LA to San Francisco
