Not Really A 4-Start Hotel

Pros: Good downtown location. Free parking.
Cons: No room refrigerator without paying extra. No microwave at any price
I recently spent a week at a Crowne Plaza hotel in Monterrey, Mexico and the experience was very far from what I expected at what is supposed to be a four-star hotel. For the most part the reception staff was professional. However the room staff left much to be desired. During our stay the maid service repeatedly used and then stole my financee's make-up. That was annoying but at least common with our experience at other hotels. What was not common and totally unacceptable was the fact that money was stolen from my finacee's wallet. Because of the security situation in Monterrey my finacee decided to leave her wallet in our room. I fully understand that the hotel is not responsible for items not placed in the room safe so I know I have no recourse. That said, I falsely assumed that we could expect a level of safety at a four star hotel and it never occurred to me that the maid staff would steal from our room. The amount taken was the equivalent of $115.00 USD. I reported this matter to the hotel management and, since the wallet was not in the safe, as expected, nothing could be done about the matter. Nevertheless, I wanted to report this incident to them. Stealing from hotel guests is never acceptable. I could tolerate the theft of make-up but to have money stolen room our room at what is supposed to be a four-star hotel is simply not acceptable.

Hotel needs major renovation!

Pros: People, staff, very friendly and fast.
Cons: Renovation again.
Location: It is in downtown, very accessible.
I was very disappointed at expedia for not doing a better job and telling us, the customer, about hotel general conditions. This hotel needs major renovation, carpets, walls, ceilings, etc.

Room was perfect, it felt like being in a hatel in the US, The only differenceis the customer service, here in mexico you are treated like a king!!

Noisy, outdated and inconvenient

The hotel is inexpensive and outdated, but what contributes the most to disappoint is that the parties they host at the lobby are so loud they will keep you awake until 3 am on weekends. There is little parking and is not well staffed so you often find yourself waiting for the vallet parking employees to let you out. Overall this is a mediocre experience at a reasonable price.

Handy to the centro & tourist areas

Cons: WiFi
Quite a pleasant surprise with friendly helpful staff. A small hiccup at check in was soon fixed. Yes as per other reviews it can be a little noisy music wise but it's all part of the experience........you can always stay at home foe peace & quiet. WiFi connection is a real problem though when the hotel is full.....works best at ungodly hours of the morning. Breakfasts are a real treat.

It was very pleasant and relaxing service was impeccable.. good restaurants and great coffee shop in the lobby entrance..the coffee aromas as I came in resemble a walk in Europe... mmmm
