Superb B and B
Posted Jan 8, 2013
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: On a corner by the Parc De La Fontaine, beautiful well maintained older building.
The Auberge was a wonderful experience. The helpful staff recommended activities and restaurants that were excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast buffet in the morning was opulent by an American tourist's standards. A most go to if staying in Montreal.

excellent stay

Pros: room, location, breakfast and daily snacks available, staff
Cons: soap bar in the bathroom
Location: near many restaurants, park, 15 minute walk to botanical gardens, Mount Royal.
The room was lovely with a beautiful terrace to enjoy, facing the park across the street. Breakfast choices were phenomenal, staff was incredible in setting things up for us and recommendations of restaurants. Would go back again in a heart beat.

Pros: Great breakfast and snacks.
Location: Quite a walk to Old Montreal but we enjoyed it anyway. We walked back from Olympique but it's about 4 Km. Two blocks from good restaurants for dinner.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was included and was fantastic. The hotel had a lovely outlook across the park and was a pleasant and safe walk to some good restaurants. Good wifi access, nicely heated, and we were particularly impressed by the availability of free snacks, teas and coffee in the kitchen, which you could help yourself to, especially with the kids. One drawback for some poeple would be the necessity to climb stairs with your luggage, as there is no lift. We enjoyed the bath after long days of exploring Montreal in the chilly weather.

Some nice touches
Posted Jan 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
Feb, 2013 - Very nice stay at this hotel. Enjoyed the variety of the continental breakfast, and appreciated the few 'extra' nice touches, such as free tea and cookies available in the evening and the high end soaps and shampoos. Good quality for the price. Would recommend and would stay there again myself.

We would stay here again

Auberge De La Fontaine was great overall. The breakfast was wonderful-lots of options and the location cannot be beat! Our room was on the first floor and was comfortable, but a bit dark. There were bars on the window, which faced the alley-so no views to speak of. However, the staff was *very* friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice little hotel for business travellers

Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Noise for room on side of Rachel St.
Location: Good for restaurants and parks, but not close to business areas.
Breakfast is superb. One of the best I have had worldwide. Some rooms are on the side of Rachel St. Noisy but not intolerable overnight. Location is not near downtown, metro, or business areas. A car is needed for access to business areas, especially in cold months. Rooms are clean, internet access is fast and easy, and amenities are acceptable. There are no elevators, so be prepared to take stairs 2-3 levels if you have a room upstairs.

Recent Stay at the Auberge De La Fontaine

the hotel is in a wonderful area to get to any location with the Metro in walking distance. Check out the shops on Mont-Royal there is everything you need in walking distance. Parking is a bit of an issue but other than that the hotel was wonderful.

Our Favorite Place to Stay in Montreal
Posted Jan 22, 2012
Pros: Location, breakfast, staff and charming decor
Cons: Really can't name anything negative
Location: For our purposes, it couldn't have been better
This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the Auberge De La Fontaine in the past year. We have tried the big name hotels downtown but always come back to this place. The breakfast buffet is delicious and always fresh; hotel staff always helpful and the location is central in the Plateau. We will definitely stay here again!

A great location and helpful staff

Pros: Colorful, comfortable
Cons: Small sink area to share
Location: French speaking but friendly for English-only speakers
This hotel is across from a lovely park that feels safe even at night. In the heart of the Francophone neighborhood, we got a good feel of local family life as we walked about 20 minutes daily to a main train hub. The shops and restos are plentiful. Policy encourages reusing towels but you can change daily if desired. The breakfast was plentiful with local flavor and very fresh juices. Choices were good but predictable after a couple days. There is no elevator and 3 floors so be prepared. There is a huge balcony that oversees the park if you get the room at the front of the hotel. A small common balcony overlooks the back alley and side street. The hotel is bright and homey, and draws families and couples. Trains and walking through neighborhoods at night to return is safe and doable if you are very mobile, but if not, stick to the old city hotels. There you can take the express airport bus without a transfer or taxi. Over all a very pleasant stay.
