Cute hotel

The staff was great, and the location could not have been better. We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and we enjoyed our stay.

Hotel Ambrose

Posted Jun 8, 2015
Pros: Convenience to everything and a very friendly staff that wanted to make sure all our needs were met.
Cons: The breakfast area is small and a little overwhelmed when it first opens at 7AM. If you wait 1/2 an hour the initial rush is mostly cleared with plent
Location: Museums, shopping on Rue St Catherine, McGill university campus just up the road, wonderful restaurants off the beaten path.
The Hotel is located within a walk of excellent shopping and very good restaurants with varied cuisines. It is also a near walk from the Peel St subway station which gets you to all of the Montreal attractions. The subway is $18 for an unlimited use 3 day pass and is extremely efficient getting you around. Our longest wait at a station was probably 5 minutes with the average wait of maybe 2 minutes. I highly recommend the botanical gardens over by the Olympic village. Spent one day walking the gardens and didn't see it all. There is no elevator at the hotel which is clearly stated in their web page. This was a small inconvenience. Getting a taxi to the airport to leave was easy. They wait at the end of the street for the major hotels which are in the same area. I walked down at 4AM for an early flight and the front taxi in the line backed up the street a few hundred feet to collect our bags when it was time to leave. The hotel is located on a quiet one way street.

Pleasant hotel, but no elevator

Posted May 30, 2015
Pros: Room and decor.
Cons: There were not enough outlets for my devices.
Location: Plenty. Lots of museums, park, cathedral and so on.
I had a very nice stay at Ambrose. Room was clean and comfy. Nice atmosphere. Don't recommend if you have a lot of luggage or have mobility issues. You may have to walk up to third floor.

The approximity my business meeting.

Pros: Tranquility and accessibility of everything.
The pleasant reception. Cleanliness, super clean. The charm of the place, affordable rates, and booking my third year in this hotel. I appreciated the renovations and improvements. Formidable and great! Robert Dubois

Charming hotel with comfortable rooms - a bargain!

Posted May 18, 2015
Lovely, charming budget hotel set in an early 1900's home. Room was cosy and comfortable, with a shabby-chic decor. We had a room with a private bathroom, with the sink outside in the room itself. Breakfast was included and the breakfast area was lovely. Staff were friendly. Location is great - a stone's throw away from McGill campus and close to the subway. There are no elevators and the stairs are tricky - be careful! Not a good option for those with mobility problems. A good option for students, singles or couples.

If do not have to, don't go.

Posted May 9, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Needs remarkable upgrading.
Location: Everything is close by.
Well, I have chosen this place for its location and the location is allright but from the moment I entered to my room I felt uncomfortable, it is smelly, furnitures are out of date, the room faces to an ugly and dirty narrow passage. There are much better places in the same price range and people should avoide from here so they can make the necessary upgrading which seems delayed for long time.

It was good. Please don't keep asking me for more information or I'll click off like I did the first time. I've rated the hotel so I think that should be enough.

Nice and close to downtown

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: Value and location
Cons: Breakfast was not great
Location: We were there for a hockey game at the bell centre. Plenty of food and all walking distance to our hotel
Great location for our needs. Very clean, nice sized room in the family suite. Breakfast was only so so. The ketchup was moldy so we informed the manager and removed all the ketchup bottles.
