Pleasant hotel, but no elevator

Posted May 30, 2015
Pros: Room and decor.
Cons: There were not enough outlets for my devices.
Location: Plenty. Lots of museums, park, cathedral and so on.
I had a very nice stay at Ambrose. Room was clean and comfy. Nice atmosphere. Don't recommend if you have a lot of luggage or have mobility issues. You may have to walk up to third floor.

The approximity my business meeting.

Pros: Tranquility and accessibility of everything.
The pleasant reception. Cleanliness, super clean. The charm of the place, affordable rates, and booking my third year in this hotel. I appreciated the renovations and improvements. Formidable and great! Robert Dubois

Charming hotel with comfortable rooms - a bargain!

Posted May 18, 2015
Lovely, charming budget hotel set in an early 1900's home. Room was cosy and comfortable, with a shabby-chic decor. We had a room with a private bathroom, with the sink outside in the room itself. Breakfast was included and the breakfast area was lovely. Staff were friendly. Location is great - a stone's throw away from McGill campus and close to the subway. There are no elevators and the stairs are tricky - be careful! Not a good option for those with mobility problems. A good option for students, singles or couples.

If do not have to, don't go.

Posted May 9, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Needs remarkable upgrading.
Location: Everything is close by.
Well, I have chosen this place for its location and the location is allright but from the moment I entered to my room I felt uncomfortable, it is smelly, furnitures are out of date, the room faces to an ugly and dirty narrow passage. There are much better places in the same price range and people should avoide from here so they can make the necessary upgrading which seems delayed for long time.

It was good. Please don't keep asking me for more information or I'll click off like I did the first time. I've rated the hotel so I think that should be enough.

Nice and close to downtown

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: Value and location
Cons: Breakfast was not great
Location: We were there for a hockey game at the bell centre. Plenty of food and all walking distance to our hotel
Great location for our needs. Very clean, nice sized room in the family suite. Breakfast was only so so. The ketchup was moldy so we informed the manager and removed all the ketchup bottles.

Nice small hotel

Posted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: Very neat and clean room and bathroom.
Cons: i would suggest more varieties as to the continental breakfast.
We stayed 2 nights at the Ambrose in April. The hotel is located in a quiet area but everything (restaurants, shops, even main universities) are at a walking distance. The staff is very nice, helpful and knowledgeable.

Pleasant and comfortable

Pros: I like the classic look and feel of the Ambrose.
Cons: My only real disappointment was that the old staircase was terribly noisy when anyone was using it, but that was minor.
Location: Just a very short walk to the heart of downtown Montreal's shops, cafes, restaurants, and businesses, as well as McGill University.
Located on the edge of McGill University and within easy walking distance of the heart of downtown Montreal, the Ambrose offers a convenient place to stay that is relatively quiet and peaceful. The staff with whom I interacted was courteous and helpful. The room had an old-time atmosphere while still offering modern conveniences including a fireplace. The wi-fi was quite good as well.
