Perfect location, great basic hotel.

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: - Location - Price - Cleanliness - Friendly & efficient staff
Cons: - The sofa beds are uncomfortable couches - Fix the snack machine - Replace the impotent shower head - An extra TV in the separate bedroom
Location: The Berri-UQAM Metro stop is a block away, and it's only a 10-15 minute walk to Old Montreal.
No-frills, no-hassle, no-worry accommodations. The staff is pleasant, the room was more than adequate for two people. We had a "Queen plus Sofa Bed" suite, including a kitchenette (stove/microwave/2 mini fridges). The "Queen" bed is more like a double-bed, but I think that's the case with most hotel beds described by Montreal hotels. The mattress was comfortable and we found extra pillows in both closets. The sofa bed was uncomfortable as a sofa, but since we just needed a place to crash during our weekend stay this suite was more than sufficient. The Roberval's best feature is its location: This hotel is only a block from the Berri-UQAM Metro station which itself is only 6 stops from the Bonaventure Metro station. (That's the main hub of the Metro, and where the Megabus drops off and picks up passengers.) Second best feature: the price. Apart from the uncomfortable couch, the only other drawbacks for us was that there wasn't a nearby depanneur and the snack-machine was out of order. Neither of these were enough to dissuade us from recommending this as a great place place to hang your chapeau during a weekend stay in this beautiful city.

Cute and Comfortable

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: The rooms were wonderful as well a the concierges.
Cons: The breakfast! I know it's free but bread and cereal barely counts. Please try adding in some meats, eggs, maybe pancakes. Please!
Location: You'll be surrounded by nightlife, festivals, stores and restaurants (Don't forget to tip your waitresses/waiters! They will not be happy).
I went with a group of 9. I got two rooms, both were clean and comfortable. The concierges were very sweet and understanding with a great sense of humor. Visually and facility wise, there isn't much (A plain lobby, no exercise or spa rooms), but you get what you need. The rooms are clean but don't expect them to be cleaned during your stay. If your bathroom or anything else gets ditrth, it will stay dirty.

East side Montreal

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: As Above.
Cons: Parking. Elevator could be a little faster.
Location: Mentioned above.
Hotel, hotel location, hotel safety, hotel staff ok. Hotel is near most tourist activities, subway (Metro), bus routes. Main road is very busy, but manageable.

One-night stay - good location

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is close to downtown (either by bus, or a 30 minute walk) and nice and close to Old Montreal as well (about 15 minute walk). We stayed for one night and this hotel met our needs well.

Convenient Location at a decent price

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Convenient, good value.
Cons: The breakfast could be a little better, but it's comparable to many US hotel chains such as Comfort Inn.
Location: Ask the desk about the crepe place a few blocks north and west of the hotel. Great place for breakfast or a late-night snack.
The hotel was located near bus lines, a block away from several Bixi stations and within easy walking distance of several good dining options. The walk to Old Montreal was a bit further, but certainly not hard. The room was clean, staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was just fine. This isn't a posh hotel, but for the money, we thought it was a very good value. Even though it's bordered by several busy streets, on the second floor we did not notice street noise. We would stay there again and I did recommend it to a friend.

Nice hotel for a small group to stay at

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: The location of the hotel one block away to UQAM/Berri Metro station made it convenient to travel to the competition pools at Parc Jean Drapeau.
Cons: Increase the selection of protein rich foods at the continental breakfast such as hard boiled eggs.
Location: The Old City is easily reached by walking or the Metro. Many restaurants with outside seating are available nearby.
Our synchronized swim team stayed at the hotel while attending the 2014 FINA World Masters Championship. We stayed in 2 - two bedroom suites that easily accommodated the 9 persons in our group. The rooms were generally comfortable and quiet. The layout of the kitchenette facilities are a little tight, but allowed us to prepare most of our meals during the one week we were there. The continental breakfast included with the room was good but had limited options available. The location of the A/C units in the two bedrooms made it difficult to cool other areas of the suite, but the balcony doors could be opened to allow fresh air in during the evening. The available (extra cost) parking garage is secure, but has tight curves going between levels that might intimidate some drivers.

Nice hotel, good location

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: nothing I'm thinking about, for this price.
Location: great location for tourism
Travelled as a family (2 kids 7 and 10). Staff was friendly and hotel is very well located for tourism. Room was clean. Negative point is some people may find it noisy because of traffic (that didn't prevent us from sleeping though)

Convenient. Clean. Moderate Cost.

We had a suite, which consisted of a queen bed in one room and a sofabed in the other. It was fine for a family of four. It had a balcony, which was nice for the kids. The room and bathroom were very clean. Although the rooms have kitchenettes, there was no residual food smell. There was no smoke smell. The bedroom had a window AC unit which was very noisy. Beyond the lobby, the hotel is absolutely bare bones. No decoration and institutional. Not a problem, but of note. Other than the toast, breakfast was strictly low quality sugar and fat laden stuff. The coffee was pretty bad. The hotel is very convenient to the subway and a 15 min walk to old town. Its on the edge of a university district. At night there are plenty of derelicts out and about, but if you pick the right route to get there, it's OK. Overall, the hotel is a perfectly adequate place to spend the night, but that's it. The parking (15/night) is extremely tight but seemingly secure. We parked a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Anything bigger or if you attempt at a speed exceeding 2 mph and you may loose some paint or a bumper navigating entry and exit. I would stay here again.
