“Best value in town”

This is a small hotel on the edge of the interesting Plateau district and a short walk from downtown. The room was well up to standard and the service was obliging. The only disadvantage is that the four storey hotel has no elevator which might be a problem for some people. A free continental breakfast is included. All told excellent value.

“Great Value- Exceptionally Friendly Service”

This was a well-priced hotel in an ideal location for enjoying the Plateau area and Montreal's many festivals. Walkable to the downtown core, or alternatively a quick convenient bus ride away. Parking was not easy. The hotel offers some at $20 per day. There is limited on-street parking, and I was impressed that the front desk offered tips on where to find some free spots as opposed to simply pushing the paid option. If you are expecting 5 star luxury and an abundant breakfast buffet (as some reviewers seem to have wanted) then you are out of luck. If you want a comfortable room, friendly service, a small, but decent breakfast- and all for a good price in a great location, then this is the choice for you.

“Great location”

If you do not want to pay premium rates for downtown chain hotels, this is a great alternative. A short bus ride from downtown Montreal, and a short walk from Blvd St Laurent, the Plateau Royale is a great option. It is also conveniently close to McGill, which makes it good for parents visiting students. Parking is scarce in this area, so if you need it, it's as well to make the hotel aware in advance. There is no elevator, so be prepared to drag your bags up several flights, or ask for a ground floor room.

“Would go again”

I loved the fact that this hotel as more neighborhood than some "hotel district" either downtown or on the skirts of town.

“Great place to stay”

I went to Montreal to stay for a week, I managed to save some money by finding it on expedia which worked out perfectly. I was afraid something wouldn`t go through because I was not booking it directly with the hotel, but everything went smoothly. I went with my boyfriend and another couple. The staff were great, they even arranged my room to my friend's so we could be across the hall from each other. They said it comes with a king size bed, but it was a bit smaller than a king, but still extremely comfortable. The one thing I would recommend is maybe trying to get a room on a lower floor since there is no elevator. I was on the fourth floor and was panting by the time I got upstairs. It was very clean, very nice room with a TV (although most was in french), and a nice bathroom. Thank goodness they had air conditioning which is so helpful when it`s hot out. At one point the water wasn`t working but it was only for a short time. Its in a great location, right near the mountain. Overall, a great place to stay and it was a lot better than I expected.

“Plateau Royale a plus!”

I had read good reviews and done a lot of research on hotels in Montreal before a trip up there and this one came out on top as far as price through Expedia and customer reviews through 3rd party travel sites. Yes, there isnt an elevator, but Americans are too fat anyway and could stand to take the stairs once in a while. But you can walk and get to a great deal of attractions, cabs (if youre willing to pay the fare) can get you most anyplace else in the area in under 20 min, and there are usually places to park on the streets (although they are mostly metered). The hotel staff went above & beyond, all of the front desk personnel we met were very friendly and extremely helpful. They made our trip better by being able to point out places to go and how to get there. They were also responsive to some complaints we had about noise- unfortunately the walls are thin so you can hear what is going on around you if other occupants are being loud. Bathroom is small, but wasnt really a big deal to us- it was kept clean and new towels arrived daily without fail. I will stay there again for sure when we go back for another all girls vacation.

“Will return to this hotel when on business in Montreal”

Centrally located and close to restaurants we found this hotel to e exactly what we were looking for in this price range. Beds were extremely comfortable and clean. It provides a small dining room where a plentiful continental breakfast is served and is open 24 hrs for use if wanting to bring in own food or heat something in the microwave. Ice also available. The general decor is a little tired but appears well maintained. Personel are friendly and helpful. Room has working TV and a telephone providing free local calls. Some parking on site is available at extra cost if requested ahead of time Great place for someone on a budget . The park is close by and down town is within walking distance

“Senior, Toronto Area couple will book again”

Hotel is just 2 short blocks from where our niece lives so location was perfect for us. There is a lot going on in the area within walking distance such as: access to Mont Royal Park great for hiking or riding bikes which are easily and cheaply rented. Big drumming (Tam Tam) activity near main entrance every Sunday (4 blocks from hotel). Restaurants and taverns galore on Ave du Parc (d/P) and Ave du Mont Royal (M/R). Major Provigo grocery store 4 blocks west on Ave M/R. You can walk to McGill Univ. or St. Catherine St. if you are hearty but inexpensive busses run often South on Ave d/P and East on Ave M/R. Seniors, lilke us, must recognize that hotel is 5 stories high with no elevator so if your short of breath, book a low floor or find another hotel with an elevator. Be prepared to work around limited parking availability typical of many smaller Montreal Hotels and B&Bs. Front desk staff are very friendly & helpfull. Our room was on the 5th floor (gasp!) but large, bright & clean and the double queen beds had good firm mattresses (needed for my back). Linens & towels were super clean. Hotel was busy with a fair number of young lodgers who were noisy & laughing in their rooms but couldn't be heard when we closed our door. There were a number of older guests too. We plan to book this hotel every time we visit our niece. Price is very reasonable if you book early and pre pay with EXPEDIA. We have paid much more for much less in Montreal.

“Bon Jour Montreal”

Very nice place to stay. Friendly staff, helped me find my way around. I do not speak on stitch of French and mostly everywhere I went people helped me in English. The hotel was located in walking distance to the bus or subway station. Wifi worked well in a clean room. Expedia says no parking but there is behind the hotel for $20.00 and is monitored. Lots of alleys and cross overs behind buildings just be alert. I never saw any problems. The price was right and the stay was nice.

“Awesome!”

We got to the hotel early in the morning, although they were booked up and couldn't provide early check-in, we were allowed to store our luggage and even returned to grab something from a bag before check-in. Each person we met working at the hotel was friendly and helpful. The room was a lot nicer than I expected, and everything was clean and well maintained. They cleaned the room every day, and provided free Wi-Fi access as stated. This was a great hotel, especially for the price. The location was great as well! Everything I hoped for and more!
