Not great for families

Posted Aug 10, 2014
From the hotel you can get to Old Montreal easily. A straight walk down, thru Chinatown. We felt safe walking to and from the hotel and Old Montreal. The only concern is there were sex shops and exotic dance places around the hotel.

I am pleased that you appreciated our prime location in the heart of the entertainment district and withing walking distance of numerous tourist sites. Though there are remnants of the old red light district, the area remains very safe day or night. We thank you for your patronage and hope to welcome you back on your next trip.

Thanks for your comments. Being located on the second floor of a historic building, it is impossible to install an elevator. Our hotel is located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles, Montreal's dynamic and vibrant entertainment and festival district. The area remains very safe and our hotel is within walking distance of the majority of Montreal's tourist sites. We are pleased to have been recognized with an excellence award for great value for a downtown Montreal hotel. Rest assured, that we will continue to work hard to keep our standards high while maintaining the lowest rates possible.

Close to metro station, but....

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: convenient location
Cons: no little fridge in the room
It was quite difficult to find the hotel as the street was blocked owing to the festival. The hotel is closed to 2 metro stations and old port, but not a good area for who has children.

The famous Ste-Catherine street is a pedestrian street during the summer months in order to host all of the numerous festivals that are held. The main intersection of Montreal is Boulevard St. Laurent and our hotel is located at the intersection of St. Laurent and Ste,Catherine. The area is dynamic and safe since it attracts guests and locals day and night. As mentioned, the metro station is only a few meters for the few tourist sites not within easy walking distance of the hotel. We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future.

Nice, close to Old Montreal

Posted Jul 25, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: nothing
Location: Just for Laughs festival was starting. Very busy area. Close to restaurants, Old Montreal and shopping.
It was a pleasant stay. We arrived on a Thursday as the Just for Laughs festival was starting. Very busy area. Close to restaurants, Old Montreal and shopping. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Affordable. Rooms are quaint, modern and with a somewhat european set-up. I'd stay here again

Downtown Hotel

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: Location, AC, kitchen, buildings character and age.
Cons: My husband would have liked a softer mattress but I found it quite comfortable,
We were very pleased with our stay. Being in one of the studio rooms we really liked having a kitchen with all the appliances. The AC was great and it was so nice to escape the humidity outside. Having travelled to Montreal to attend festivals downtown the location was perfect and was a close walk to everything we wanted to do. We did enter from the side of the building and did the stairs as other reviews have said but did not find this a problem. The side entrance was easy to find and not at all inconvenient.

In the middle of the action

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Close to all the action, on a pedestrian street.
Cons: Access to floor
Location: Close to many activities, subway, restaurants
Great place, very quiet still in the middle of the action. Apart from the stairs, it was a great place to stay.

I am pleased that you enjoyed our prime location in the heart of the entertainment district and that you appreciated a quiet night's rest in our establishment. Being in a historic building, there is no possibility of an elevator and therefore the stairs can be daunting. We hope to welcome you again in a near future.

Good stay

Comfortable, Simple, clean, with some style and a great location. A good value buy. No parking so factor in a block or two walk to a nearby underground lot.

Close to everything

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Central location to everything downtown.
Location: The hotel is on a St. Catherine Street, which has all kinds of restaurants and shopping. The Convention Center and old town are just a few blocks away
I read reviews beforehand that mentioned stairs, but I was not expecting that many. There were 20 or so up to the lobby. To get to our room, we had to go back down, around the side of the building, and up another 30-plus. It was OK for two people with only two carry-on bags, but I'd hate to do it with small children or heavy luggage. The hotel is next to an open area where a Jazz Festival was being held, so it was loud! until 11 p.m. I probably would not have stayed there had I known. I'd definitely call ahead before reserving another time. The morning desk clerk was friendly, courteous and helpful. She let us keep our bags there for a while after check out so we didn't have to lug them around with us. Our room had been renovated, but it still had an older feel. I love that the room had a full kitchen: full fridge, sink, oven/stove and dishes.

Amazing value and excellent facilities

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: Beautiful building on the inside, helpful staff and plenty of space.
Cons: In the part of the building we were staying in the rooms were on the upper floor reached by a steep flight of stairs (no lifts).
Location: The hotel is right next to the theatre complex and a large shopping centre. It's also very close to Chinatown.
I'd been offered a good deal on this hotel through expedia and expected a double room - we got two queen beds, one single bed and cooking facilities including a fridge. The room was very spacious and comfortable as well.

Great hotel, downtown location, easy access.

Posted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Tell people when the Jass Festival is going on.
Location: All of DT Montreal, including Boul. St. Laurent.
It was horrible, terrible, a disaster. The Montreal Jazz Festival was in full swing. The hotel was right at the edge of the festivities and, the music played until midnight. Worse, they were a bunch of party people that decided to hoop and holler until about 2-3AM, right under my window. I don't think I got more than 2-3hrs of sleep.

I am pleased that you found that you found our property a great hotel and that you appreciated our downtown location and it's easy access. I am very disappointed, however, that you did not have a good night's rest. Our hotel is indeed in the heart of Montreal's trendy entertainment district and during the summer festivals, it can be loud with music until midnight; We do have some room types facing the back of the hotel for lighter sleepers.
