Spotlessly clean, very nice staff, great location.

Pros: i talk about it above
Cons: the heaters were a little cold but not really an issue
Location: everything
I stayed here with my girlfriend for Valentine's Day weekend so we could tour the city and just relax a bit. When we got there the lady at the desk took out a map and showed us where everything in the city was and how to get there and gave some suggestions before showing us to our room. Spotless! The room decor was lovely too. We actually laid back for awhile to comment on how all the colours on the walls, the bedsheets, the paintings all worked with each other. Location is another great thing. You may be initially turned off by seeing the entrance between the booze store and a large sex-shop ( but you forget about it basically the moment you enter the big stairway filled with wonderful paintings of Leonard Cohen and contortionists ), but this is right in the middle of the most exciting part of downtown, good food, a short 10 minute walk from the via rail and literally RIGHT around the corner from the subway station. The continental breakfast was a little pricey but worth the price for sure. I even forgot my glasses there and on our way in to collect our bags (from the baggage room you can leave them in the day of your check out) the man at the front desk recognized us and asked me if they were mine. Very impressed, would definitely recommend and I will very likely be returning next time I see Montreal on my itinerary.

Position, position, position!

I booked a five night stay at this hotel on the basis of previous reviews. For some reason none of those first fifteen or so reviews mentioned that the hotel is on the second floor with the entry right next to a sex shop. Very off-putting, and awkward. Certainly not the place for everyone to meet at! Once up all those stairs however, the hotel was great. It felt well-cared for, squeaky clean and the rooms at the side of the hotel were very quiet. We ended up trying two of the rooms as the first was quite dark and small. The reception staff were more than pleasant and eager to help and another brighter room was found for the rest of our stay. The hotel is actually in a perfect place just off the main shopping area and on a very, fun eating, quirky store road, St Laurent Boulevard. We had breakfast in the small cafe area once and that was lovely. I guess I would recommend this hotel to couples but those with young children and those who find stairs difficult would be put off or struggle here.

Montreal

Pros: location, very friendly and helpful staff
Location: Fantastic location, you can walk to most of the attractions !
Highly recommended hotel, great area, few minutes walk from the Village and underground station +other attractions, the street can get a bit noisy at night ( hotel will provide ear plugs if necessary ) but for me the bit of street noise was not a problem at all. I felt safe and very comfortable in the hotel and in the area! Hopefully I will come back soon! :)

We are disappointed that we were unable to meet your expectations. Our hotel is situated in a centennial building but all rooms have been entirely renovated in keeping with the building's historical character. Though it i not new building, guests usually choose are hotel for it's charm and for our prime location in the midst of Montreal's wonderful entertainment district, the Quartier des Spectacles. We work hard at maintaining our high standards for our guests and rest assured that we look at every comment and always try to improve our services to our clients.

Great location, nice staff

Posted Dec 12, 2014
Pros: The staff! They were nice and very helpful.
I just stayed one night at this hotel through a last minute booking. I have no complaints. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. My room was large and clean. It had a bit of a weird set up where the toilet was separate from the rest of the bathroom. It was awkward but not a big deal. The location of the hotel is superb. Easy to get to several metro stations, two minutes walk away from the bus 747 airport bus stop, few blocks away from a supermarket. I would stay here again. Note though: To get to reception, you have to climb some stairs. Also, there are no elevators. Not a big deal, but if you have heavy luggage, it might be a problem.

I am pleased that you appreciated our prime location and our our customer service. We realize that there are many stairs to contend with but being in a historic building, there is not the possibility of putting an elevator. A few of our rooms have the European style washrooms where the toilet is separate from the shower, for the convenience of two guests sharing a room. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again to our establishment on your next trip to Montreal.

Perfect for attending Place Des Arts performances

Posted Nov 30, 2014
Pros: location, price, comfort, staff
Location: lots of restaurants and Place Des Arts
We had a 2nd floor Superior room which looked brand new and had a wonderful clean smell of cedar. The staff was super pleasant and helpful, the queen beds were very comfortable, there's a modern thermostat for room temperature, check in and check out was a breeze, the internet was easy to connect to (and fast!) and the location is unbeatable for attending a performance at the Place Des Arts (it's only about 3 blocks away!). There are a bunch of yummy restaurants to choose from (but do make reservations if it's near the weekend) and a big food court with a lot of variety in the mall across from the Place Des Arts as a backup (I recommend the Thai). We would definitely stay here again, and will call directly to make use of the generous special return guest rate mentioned! Even without a discount it is a great value for all of the benefits described above. : D
