Great Location in Old MontrealPosted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Location, comfortable beds, clean, classic charm
Cons: Have some tables on the rooftop bar reserved for guests only and improved service. Tone down music and pink neon lighting in downstairs restaurant/bar
We drove to Montreal and had no difficulty getting to the hotel, despite lots of one-way streets, construction, etc. Lots of helpful staff at front to take your bags and car (excellent valet parking). Check-in was quick and our room was ready. Our room was in the first building, fronting St Urbain and over the restaurant/bar (and underneath the rooftop bar), which was unfortunate. Not much of a view and there was noise from the bar at night, but we were out most of the time so this wasn't a huge problem. Still, having stayed in the other buildings, our preference is building 2. Elevators were very slow. Our standard King room was clean, not overly large. Closet had plentiful hangers and a safe, there was a desk, comfy bed, one chair, mini fridge, flat screen TV, bathroom with tub/shower combo, two robes and decent towels. No coffee maker (Starbucks is a block away) and no ice machines. Two bottles of water and chocolates provided with turn-down service. Great location within walking distance of Jazzfest, shopping, restaurants, museums. We didn't use our car the entire time. We enjoyed the rooftop bar in the afternoon, despite terrible service. We tried to get a drink there in the evening, but it was jam packed. We found the downstairs bar too loud and gaudy for our taste. Fabulous dining options nearby. We stayed in the hotel for breakfast on our last morning only because it was raining. OK in a pinch, but there are many better dining options off-site.

Excellent: hotel, staff and locationPosted Jun 28, 2015
Pros: Characters and decor, location and staff
Cons: Water pressure of shower - this was a defect and reported to front desk
Location: Great for tourist - easy walk to Bell Centre 15 mins or $7 taxi. Would work well for business traveller too
The hotel is situated in the old town - an easy walk to everywhere we needed to go. Staff very helpful. Hotel and room full of characters. Overall an excellent stay

Romantic hotelPosted Jun 25, 2015
This is the third time we have chosen this hotelZ it is charming. The hotel is located in Old Montreal so you are near quaint shops and restaurants. The restaurant and bar is a delight. We can't wait to come back!

Lovely hotel, centrally located...Posted Jun 23, 2015
Cons: Our stay was nearly perfect, but the room hotel food was awful and needs massive improvement.
Location: The hotel is centrally located to sites and restaurants and we would definitely stay here again (but skip the food onsite).
We stayed at Le Place d’Armes Hotel this past weekend for 3 nights in a Standard King Size room. Check-in (and check-out) was swift and efficient and our arrival was topped off with a voucher for 2 free cocktails at the hotel’s restaurant lounge Suite 701. At arrival to our room, there was classical music playing lightly in the background and the room smelled minty and fresh. The bed was plush and the bed sheets were soft and cozy. The bathroom linens were soft, clean and plentiful. The toiletries were probably my favorite perk as they smelled of eucalyptus and mint. They even provided bath salts for the in-room Jacuzzi which was a lovely bonus! They have a fully stocked and very expensive snack bar for an additional charge. They don’t provide in-room coffee or tea but they set up a nice coffee station in the mornings downstairs in the hotel lobby. They also have a turn-down service where they provide a free bottle of water per guest and a Lindt chocolate truffle.

Perfect for seeing Old MontrealPosted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: location and service
Cons: the safe in our room did not work. While the dark wood floors in our room were very nice for look, they showed off all of the dust and dirt.
Perfect location in Old Montreal. Notre Dame Basilica is just around the corner and the hotel is within a few blocks walking distance to all of the shopping and restaurants, hop-on/hop-off bus stop, and Metro. Hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. Nightly turn-down service to include bottled water (free) and chocolates was a nice surprise.

Very exciting to be there, never leave! Best part if our stay. Beauty everywhere, great RainSpa... Make an appt so you can use hammam. Great 5star restaurants within walking distance. Parking has in and out privileges. Ask for upper floors.

Perfect location for vacation in MontrealPosted May 31, 2015
Pros: Quiet spacious bedroom, extremely comfortable bed and pillows, huge bathroom, nice toiletries, well maintained, daily bottled water free of charge.
Cons: Service substandard at 701- slow, offhand, not enough staff. Menu just ok. Top peeve: allowed smelly runners dripping in sweat to be seated next to us
Location: In the historic quarter of Montreal reminiscent of a European city. Hotel very close to many wonderful restaurants, bars, shops and galleries.
We went to Montreal to meet relatives visiting for the first time from Australia. They loved the location for its energetic, French vibe and its proximity to historic sites, wonderful restaurants, bars and shopping. The hotel is situated in the historic district, not far from pedestrian only streets where one can take leisurely strolls and drink in the sights, sounds and aromas of this unique city in North America.
