quaint but not all that comfortable

Posted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: historic, close in location to old Montreal, and the outdoor patio on roof was great.
Cons: Have the owners check in and stay as if they were guests, and take notes.
Location: it's old Montreal- what can't you do or get to.
Knew this hotel was old and full of character going in (1725), but not prepared for the DARKNESS. Very dark in room, with lots of very ornate, but ineffective (read comfortable) furniture. Bed needed climbing into. Much loud street noise in the early am for deliveries, and back-up beeping. Advertised wi-fi only available in lobby; fan in bathroom did not work, and toilet often needed several flushes; very small tv and almost impossible to view from anywhere but 1 small chair by desk. Advertised free parking was almost overlooked at checkout, and advertised continental breakfast very slow to arrive. Staff just overworked. In case you missed it- it's VERY DARK in the room- unless you turn on any of the 6 lights, and the overhead chandeliers. Just disappointed for the $$$$$. only a few people I would recommend this hotel to and even then with caveats.

Like staying in a fairy tale castle

Lovely, charming 18th century mansion at the edge of Old Montreal. Walk to everything, including bakeries, restaurants, pubs, art galleries, and the waterfront. Staff friendly. Free parking adjacent to the property, free WiFi. Very clean, gorgeous room with stone walls, tons of room, and a fireplace. Large four-poster bed surrounded by a massive overhead wooden carved ceiling. Exposed beams in the room, floor to ceiling drapes, windows that actually open. Comfortable open-air courtyard, private seating areas throughout the hotel. Continental breakfast was simple but delicious, served at your table with crystal and fine china. Unique property, very old world feel.

Weekend Stay

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: 1800s style and charm. Food was excellent. We had stag (deer) and beef Wellington. All well cooked and prepared.
Cons: Have a coffee/hot water kettle in the room.
Location: Old Montreal, enough said, architecture as one of North America's oldest cities and preserved as such, with French Flair.
Hotel is well positioned to the main spots in old Mtl. it is 100feet from marche Bonsecours. It was very quiet as the road was closed for construction, but no construction occurred on the wknd. The room is out of a history book as you expect Queen Antoinette to be lying on the majestic bed. Style and originality are A+. Bed and pillows are very comfortable. Sofa chair and lounge chair from the era are also comfortable.

Old World Charm

Posted Sep 6, 2014
How do you beat an inn built in the 1700's for old world charm? We celebrated our anniversary here and enjoyed it immensely. Our bell hop/waiter was really great. Definitely recommend for a first visit to Montreal. Great location in Old Montreal and all the restaurants and shops. We're coming back!

It is the perfect romantic room and it actualy look like what you see in the picture. The only flaw is about the service for breakfeast, the waitress couldn't speak french, i always find it odd to have to speak english in an international Hotel in Qu├ębec!
