Expensive but beautifulPosted Sep 30, 2013
Pros: Waking up and going straight out for a swim in the ocean.
My wife and I spent 3 nights here. We had originally booked 2 nights in a garden bungalow and 1 night in an over-water bungalow, but upon arrival we were upgraded for free to have all 3 nights over-water: definite credit to the hotel for doing this, as the over-water experience was quite exceptional. We tremendously enjoyed waked up in the morning and going straight out to our balcony and then into the ocean for a refreshing swim and spectacular snorkeling. (Pro tip: the weather seemed to usually be best in the early morning, right after sunrise, and then often clouded over and/or got windy by the afternoon.) There were a few small quirks about the room that were a little annoying, such as the shower head being positioned awkwardly or the unnecessarily large number of confusingly positioned light switches. But overall the facilities were quite nice. It was also nice that we could borrow snorkeling equipment, kayaks, etc. whenever we wanted for no charge. The staff was generally helpful, albeit at times not as polite or punctual as what one might expect from the price tag. We enjoyed the free breakfast buffet every morning, which was pretty good but not amazing. We only had dinner at the hotel once, and it was passable. Rudy's, the steak and seafood restaurant about 10 minutes' walk from the hotel, is a much better bet.

Excellent staffPosted Sep 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. We had a beach bungalow and it was fantastic. I would do the beach bungalow over the overwater bungalow anyway. The staff were friendly and warm. Food left a little to be desired but overall we were very happy.

Lovely quaint resort in MooreaPosted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: Rooms were really nice (we had a premium OWB) and found it to be very private and had everything we needed within it.
Cons: The food was satisfactory but not fantastic.
Location: Visit the Moorea Beach Club for a really nice meal.
This is a small boutique hotel but has much more warmth than many large chain offerings. It's proximity (5 min walk) to shops/ bank/ post office and outside restaurants is also a major plus.

Fabulous piece of Paradise on planet earth!!!!!Posted Jul 4, 2013
Pros: Everything = especially our over the water bungalow.
Cons: There needs to be a clock by the pool - - so you know if you have been in the sun too long - or it is time for the next activity - or your nap.
Location: The BEST location of the 4 major Moorea hotels. The Pearl is the closest to the best small town and almost anything you might need, want or desire.
Our Honeymoon was 8 fabulous days at a perfect spot with a great pool, beach and water sports area. Our over the water bungalow was perfect and charming and the sunsets from our balcony - spectacular!!! Our own personal dock was the best for snorkeling and reef explorations. The breakfasts were bountiful, plentiful, delicious and the best pineapple we have ever tasted!!! Dinner was romantic, beautiful and delicious. The staff was friendly, professional, helpful and so eager to please. The close proximity of the resort to the nearby town made walking expeditions a snap to shops, banks, restaurants, and a grocery/liquor store. We rented a car and toured the entire island, rented a motorbike, went jet skiing and swam with dolphins and sting rays, and floated - stress free in the pool and ocean. Does it get any better than this? We will return and recommend the PEARL to everyone!!!!!!

Wonderful snorkelingPosted Jun 19, 2013
Pros: Staff members were very friendly and helpful. The snorkeling right off the beach and around the bungalows was fantastic.
Cons: Pads on lounge chairs and more kayaks.
I stayed with my mom in a garden duplex. The AC wasn't working, we sweated out two days, and finally spoke up. They immediately gave us another room that evening. I stayed upstairs and slept in the king bed and she downstairs in one of the twins. It was ideal. The grounds are lovely and the snorkeling right off the beach and around the overwater bungalows was fabulous. On the negative side, the lounge chairs aren't very comfortable and the kayaks and stand up paddle boards were often being used. There are only three kayaks and four paddle boards and there were a ton of people there, especially over Father's Day weekend. We also stayed at the Intercontinental on Tahiti and the lounge chairs had thick pads which made them very comfy. There were a ton of children in and around the pool at the Pearl. We had commented about the lack of them and the peace and quiet at the IC, and we're guessing it's because of the duplex stituation - conducive to families. It was nice to be close to a grocery store and we enjoyed eating at the Beach Club - a five to seven minute walk. They Beach Club does have a free shuttle. Concierge was great - booked two excursions. I think the swim with rays and sharks, with additional snorkeling and lunch barbeque was great, especially for the price. The off-roading on ATVs was fun but load and overpriced.

Tahitian style wins ever timePosted Jun 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
The gorgeous location of the Pearl can't be beaten - on the oceanfront, some shops/cafes walking distance (with a pavement and street lighting...very unusual in Moorea!), and 15 minutes from the little port and airport. The bungalows are positioned for maximum sun...we saw sunrise through to sunset every day..looking out into the lagoon with something different to see all the time. The 'resort' has a lovely intimate feeling with friendly staff who get to know you. The food was great, and the lack of formal entertainment a real bonus! The Tahitian style of the hotel and service shone through in the experience here. The snorkelling is excellent as the sea is deep enough to attract a wider range of fish, octopus (3 living underneath our overwaterbungalow), dolphins and turtles. Best location on the island without doubt. Its immaculately groomed every day, and the rooms, although slightly dated, provide everything a traveller needs, lovely robes, heaps of towels, and glass panels in the floor which is more interesting than any tv programme that I've ever seen!

Paradise in almost every wayPosted Jun 2, 2013
The only downside was the food which was generally bland and unimaginative. Everything else about the resort was perfect.
