The over water bungalow was very nice.Posted Jul 2, 2013
Location: It is only about a mile from the airport. Taxi is 1500 fpx per car to the hotel.
We stayed here back in 2000 and was nice. They renovated the hotel about 6 years ago and the room is more updated.

Best resort on MooreaPosted Jun 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
We just returned home from our amazing 8 day vacation to Moorea. We have been to Moorea twice before but it was the first time for us at the Sofitel. Out of all the options on Moorea the Sofitel offers the best bungalow experience. We stayed in a superior bungalow which has a private swim deck. I would highly recommend staying in bungalows 202-218 which face the lagoon and the beach, they offer the most privacy. The snorkeling is to die for and the views of Tahiti at sunset are to die for. Definitely a 5 star experience,

Great place!Posted Jun 9, 2013
This is a truly beautiful place. Our only complaint was that they never had enough towels available at the pool - even though they had this complicated system of handing in a card to pick up a towel and retrieving the card when towel was returned - or supposedly you would get charged. Young man who ran the pool towel station was terrific - especially in as much through no fault of his he rarely had towels to give out!

trip of a lifetime!Posted May 29, 2013
Lets talk about the good first: -Moorea is incredibly beautiful and the hotel grounds is gorgeous! -Their over the water bungalows are comfy, clean and quite luxurious with an awesome view; I HIGHLY recommend booking one if you're going all the way to French Polynesia -The staff are very friendly and English was no problem -The lagoon is amazing; it lives up to all the photos and stories, the water is crystal clear! Now let's talk about the bad -The first few days were blissful, we swam every day with the sunrise and snorkeled as the sun set, it was heaven. Then...the kids started rolling in. Honestly the last day was kind of a zoo, when we went to check out, the lobby was FULL of people trying to check in and the staff looked overwhelmed. The infinity pool was plagued by kids; screaming, crying kids. I love kids, don't get me wrong, but people come to French Polynesia to get away from it all. This complaint was shared by a lot of the guests I was speaking with, so if you are honeymooners, maybe try to book a 21 and over resort. -No conditioner in the bathrooms; um...even Motel 6 has conditioner and Sofitel is a 5 star establishment! We literally had to pay $$$ for conditioner at the gift shop, seriously?? With the amount of money they charge I would think conditioner is a no brainer -At night they tend to throw loud parties for the locals. If you are a partier yourself you might not care, but I wanted to warn those who would be bothered by it.

Best hotel on MooreaPosted May 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
Staying at the sofitel made our trip. Not only is Moorea one of the most beautiful places, but staying at this hotel was the best decision we made. The place was very quiet, the staff incredibly welcoming and great customer service. The rooms were big and cozy. We wanted to book an overwater bungalow but decided to do the garden bungalows due to reduced pricing and actually really enjoyed it! We had our own private patio hidden in the gorgeous greenery. The snorkeling here is also the best on the island, just off to the South of the water bungalows, truly unreal.

BeautifulPosted May 8, 2013
We stayed in an over the water bungalow for four nights. The view was amazing, and the room was great. The food in the hotel restaurant is not bad, but it certainly is not good. After the first disappointing night, we ate at local restaurants, and had much better meals.
