“Fantastic for Marine Parents”

We recently went to Cherry Point to visit our Marine son. The Hampton Inn, based on previous reviews, was our choice for our first time in the area. We certainly were very pleased with every staff personnel we met. Every aspect of the motel we saw was clean - especially the room, hallway, and lobby. This wil be our "home away from home" each time we return to Havelock. For us, the Hampton Inn at Havelock, North Carolina is tops in our travel places to stay. We'll Be Back!!!

Area recommendations

The location is excellent. It is an easy access from Highway 70 and near several clean restaurants. The aviation museum just behind the motel is interesting and gives the visitor a good perspective of Marine aviation. If you have kids along, they'll enjoy feeding the turtles in the pond near the motel.

Outdoors or beach

Atlantic Beach is only about 20 minutes away. However, unless you arrive early, parking is very hard to find. Indian Beach about 15 minutes west on Highway 58 is a much nicer area (not commercialized). It has shower and dressing facilities, a boardwalk to a nearly empty beach, and good shelling. North Carolina Aquarium is also located on the two lane highway. New Bern located just 15 miles from Havelock has several small quaint shops for casual shopping. About a mile and a half past the main entrance to Cherry Point is the Havelock recreation complex. It has an excellent one mile (with measured distances and benches if one gets tired) walking path around ball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts and the main building which has basketball and other activities

“Havelock home”

The Inn was a comfortable home away from home for a family gathering in Havelock. Highlight - cookies in the late afternoon!

“I'LL BE BACK”

As we arrived, my family and I were very pleased to see how well maintained this hotel was. We had arrived at 10:00 AM, 5 hours earlier than the 3:00 PM check-in time. I went to the front desk at the hotel to ask what the earliest time that we could check in.. I was greeted by a very nice and courteous young lady. She said she could check us in immediately, to my surprise. This was absolutely great, as I just finished a 10 hour drive from northern New Jersey. This gave us a chance to freshen up and get a little rest before meeting up with our son who was deploying to Afghanistan very early the next morning. The room was exceptionally clean and the 2 queen size beds were very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning which was free, was quite good. There were hot waffles, cereals, assorted pastries, microwavable items, fruit, juice, milk and coffee. The entire staff were very helpful and courteous during our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel. The price was a little higher than what I would normally pay, but was well worth it.
