Red Roof Inn Morehead stay

Posted Dec 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel is nothing fancy--we just needed a place to sleep for the night. The hotel is obviously a bit aged but the room was clean enough, the shower was hot, and the bed felt clean. Complimentary breakfast was okay--had your standard coffee, toast, waffle maker, and also biscuit and gravy. If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep for a night (~$50-60), this worked.

Nice hotel close to grandchildren

Pros: It had an indoor heated pool which was great for grandchildren. Close to where we needed to be.
The beds were very comfortable which is a big plus

Would not recommend.

Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything.
We booked for a non-smoking room and after the first night felt like we had slept in an ashtray. The room was not clean and there were odors throughout the hotel. We were told that the room used to be non-smoking but no longer was; that must have changed the night before. We ended up getting a room 100 ft. down the road at the Holiday Inn Express which felt like the Ritz. It was very clean and well appointed. Will never stay at a Red Roof again.

sufficient, not spectacular

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: The price was great, and the room provided a comfortable place to sleep
Location: The location was good, and it was close to everything.. but the staff should have been more knowledgeable
I chose this hotel because of it's convenience to the Red River Gorge, and the fact that it had an indoor heated pool. I arrived, girlfriend, and three hungry kids in tow.. and asked the clerk where I could find a buffet to satisfy their appetites. The clerk working the front desk said that the only restaurant with a buffet for miles was a Chinese place. The reality was that there was a buffet restaurant next door. When I grade a hotel, I take into account the helpfulness of the staff, in addition to the actual room, and this hotel fell short. This also showed up when I asked where the Red River Gorge was, seeing as this hotel was called Red Roof Inn-Red River Gorge, and the clerk (a different one than the night before) said he had no idea. Now, the room was more than sufficient. 2 beds, TV, mini fridge (to store my ice cold Ale-8) nothing special, but it fit my needs. The heated pool was nice, it allowed my family to swim in October, which was nice. The temperature was very nice, and it enticed my girlfriend to swim, which she hadn't planned on. The water was lovely. The next morning, we got up at 7, hoping to get some breakfast, and were met with cold biscuits and muffins, cereal, (very little milk) and make-your-own waffles, which were ok

About what I expected.

Posted Jun 22, 2014
The facilities were clearly dated and dingy, which gives the illusion of not being clean, even if they really are. Despite that the room seemed clean enough, the carpet was a bit on the yuck side, I didn't like my kids running around barefoot on it. Room was hot when we got there but a/c was off. Once we turned on the college dorm room type unit it was plenty noisy but did eventually cool our room down. Breakfast in the morning wasn't anything special, but they did have a waffle maker and my husband said the bagels were good. There wasn't much to choose from fresh fruit wise, just apples and oranges, not even any bananas. But the coffee and juice were ok. All in all for what we paid, it served our purposes for a one night stay to break up a long road trip and we would stay there again.

Great Staff!

Posted Jun 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stay here every year on our way to/from Virginia Beach. The beds are better than those is some luxury resorts we have visited. The staff is very helpful and quick to respond to any issues (although issues have been very rare). Our favorite nearby restaurants are Reno's Steakhouse and Cracker Barrel. There is something for everyone in Morehead!
