“El Nido in Cuarnavaca: a bargain?”
I have to say that El Nido was overpriced for the overall quality of the stay. The most positive thing that I have to say about it is the helpfulness and the friendliness of the staff - from the front desk, to the night watchman, to the housekeeping. They say that knowing the language is helpful when overseas, but I am secretly hoping that they all would have been that way even if my wife and I weren´t fluent in spanish.
On the negative side, I have to say that I was a little shocked when they showed me the ¨lock¨ on the balcony door. It was broken, and allowed no security whatsoever. Several times I came in the room to find the balcony door(s) wide open. I have to add, though, that the front desk was EXTREMELY NICE about securing our valuables in the Hotel Safe.
I DID NOT use the Hotel Pool, even though the temperature in Cuernavaca was sunny and in the 80´s, and I hadn´t been swimming for a long time. The reason I did not use the pool is that it was full of leaves and bugs - and the water had this milky quality to it that kind of reminded me of swimming in the lakes of South Dakota.
Returning to the reason why I feel that it was overpriced: I have to say, a little sarcastically, that I have paid much less for Motel 6 and received good security and a clean swimming pool.
