“Great location”
I've stayed here a number of times over the past 20 years and have witnessed it's various transformations. This is a good hotel to stay at for someone who wants acess to downtown and WVU
“Fun place”
A bit old but being updated, neighborhood is the same old but being updated
“Beautifully restored historic hotel”
I can say enough good about the Hotel Morgan! It has been beautifully restored to what must have been it's former glory with lovely woodwork, window treatments, wallpaper and chandeliers. The rooms are large, clean and tasteful and the view (from a six floor corner room) is amazing. The front desk staff were friendly and extremely helpful. I felt like I was stepping back in time. The breakfast was just so-so. They do include yogurt and some fruit with the usual offering of donuts and other carbs. The internet didn't work in our room, and I heard other guests comment that theirs didn't either. However it works fine in the mezzanine and that's a perfectly comfortable (if dark) place to take care of internet activities. The business center seems to be well appointed with two computers, a copier, and sundries.
“Bad Experience”
The hotel got hit by lightening and fried the internet equipment. Although this is easy and cheap to fix, it took them I think 5 days to fix it. For some people, Internet is very important and I was not the only one who was complaining about that. I drives for 11 hours and was really tired. I stayed awake till 3:30 in the morning because it was really hot and the AC was broken. That was the only double left so I had to change to a king bedroom to sleep on the sofa's bed. What made me angry is that they tried to book the same room to my friends without fixing the AC and without even telling them. The ice machine was also broken and there were spiderwebs andbugs next to window outside my room. It only costed me 20 more dollars to book in a nice clean hotel where I felt safer and more comfortable. On the other hand, the staff are really friendly and helpful. The location and neighborhood are great too.
“A Classic Hotel Updated”
This eight story hotel is about 90 years old, but maintains a charm and grace seldom experienced in a newer setting. Our room was at the end of the hall and was quiet- no noise at all, except for the large window AC/heating unit that ran constantly, either with the compressor on or off. Since I like white noise to help me sleep, the AC unit was not intrusive and actually provided a nice white background that enabled deep and restful slumber. The front desk staff was exceptional, and readily provided us with a toothbrush and toothpaste, since we had forgotten our own. The only minor annoyances included the fact that the hotel parking lot was about a block away, as well as a $1.50 daily charge for the room safe. Our room was very comfortable, very quiet, and we enjoyed our stay very much. We did not use the restaurant, but others have rated it highly. We would return again without hesitation.
“Nice Place”
A very comfortable room and a pleasant stay. The staff is helpful and courteous.
“nicely updated vintage building”
located right in the middle of downtown Morgantown, good location for WVU events, although you'd have to drive to football games great old building with classic decor, but all the right updates to the rooms-new bathroom, nice beds and bedding, surprisingly large room WIFI was a bit slow, but it worked.
“Just what we needed”
My friends and I decided to take a trip down to an alternative club in Morgantown. We wanted a nice and affordable hotel that was within walking distance of this downtown club. The Clarion turned out to be a simply charming place, a mere two blocks from the club we visited (and to a number of other nightlife venues), plus the hotel had free parking, free wireless, and free breakfast. In short, the hotel was close, pleasant, and a bargain - just what we needed.
“Very cute hotel”
I enjoyed the hotel very much! It was like a flashback to the past wth the interior design. Staff was very friendly. Good location, walking distance to downtown and a few minute drive from the university. I would definitly go back again.
“Walk to WVU, but check your CC for room charge already paid though Expedia.”
We stayed here for one night while on a visit to see our nephew at WVU. Location was great as we were able to walk to his dorm. We loved the old style feel of the hotel, but with modern conveniences. The 2 problems that we had were : 1.) No complimentary breakfast. We asked at the front desk, but they said they didn't offer one. Huh? 2.) They took our credit card at check in for damages and incidentals. Upon check out, they said nothing about charging us for our room, again, that we already paid for through Expedia. I ddn't see that until a few days later on my CC. They did credit my card back, but I always find this to be a major inconvenience when hotels do this.
