“Great Service and location, Rooms need updated”
The location and amenities of the Lakeview resort are TERRIFIC, especially the Spa. The only negative comment I have is that the rooms are very outdated - possibly still from the 1970s. The beds were very comfortable and the heat/air conditioning worked even though the unit looked like it could fall apart at any time. The TVs are still old as well.
“Great Place to stay when the Mountaineers Play”
Overall, the hotel was very nice. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. When I called to confirm my reservation, the person, who answered was extremely helpful and nice. The area was very nice with a golf course on site if that is something you choose to do when staying. It was very convenient for us to go to the Mountaineer game. I would go back and stay there anytime.
“Great service....tired and smokey facility”
The hotel staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel rooms are outdated. Old linens and towels, smokey smell, small rooms (ours did not have a table), etc. Great free continental breakfast, with great staff. Bottom line, the people are great, but the rooms show the wear of many years of golf packages and weddings. The entire facility needs a gutted overhaul.
“Good Choice”
Best available choice and good value for money if you plan to be in this area.
“Nice resort in a small town.”
Hotel appears very old but comfortable. They did not do a good job in upgrading. Golf course is nice.
“Fine Mountain retreat as long as you dont expect too much”
Part of me liked it and felt a little sad for this friendly, aging resort that was probably once THE place to be. Good staff, very helpful. I was late for a wedding and they got me checked in in less than a minute. The rooms are nothing special but clean and comfortable. The only updated part of the room was seemingly the bathroom, which was nicely appointed. Common areas were very pretty. Breakfast buffet was pretty good with a lot of choices, made to order omelets, and Starbucks coffee. now for the cons... The resort washes its own towels and sheets, so the laundry room puts out a lot of steam. I guess that's what set off the really loud and annoying fire alarm which seemed to go on forever late at night. No insulation against noise, I heard every conversation both outside my window and in the corridor so try to get a room away from the entrance. I did feel fairly safe while I was there. The room smelled like wet dog. I did notice that the rooms lakeside looked a bit nicer. Cant complain too much as I got the unpublished rate from a travel website which was about half the rack rate. There are no 4 or 5 star hotels in Morgantown, and only two 3.5 star rated so if you have a chance to get the unpublished rate, take it.. Nemacolin Spa across the border in PA and Greenbrier Resort WV are 5 star aging-but-still-grande dames, while Lake view is more like a kindly grandma, who may not be hip and cutting edge, but always has a smile and makes you feel like home.
“very pleasant stay”
Nice accommodations. Can't speak to the restaurant - didn't eat dinner there. I felt the breakfast buffet was lacking and overpriced at $12. One word of warning: Following the GPS directions took us out of the way to a trailer park. When we called the resort, the receptionist told us this happens all the time when using GPS directions because there are duplicate addresses in the same area. Go figure! She gave us directions and the resort was easy enough to find. Would stay there again.
“Great place to stay for the farsighted”
Loved the view of the golf course and the lake. Probably would be an awesome place to stay if I were really playing golf. Kind of far out for anything else but the surroundings were beautiful. Interior of the hotel could use a little work - I wouldn't have rated it a 3-star hotel and if I had paid full price to stay I would definitely have been disappointed.
“Summer resort”
Nice resort but not fully staffed in the winter months. Only one person working front desk and in resuarant only one wiatress/bartender (she did a great job everthing considered)
“Won't be staying here again.”
This hotel has seen better days. The carpets were worn, and stained. The place has a desolate air about it. It is in need of a major renovation. Calling itself a resort and spa is a bit misleading.
