Loved this hotel, very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. We were half board and the food was gorgeous. A lovely bar area with a log fire and a beautiful dining room. Would highly recommend.
Staff so friendly and caring .Worth going for food alone, good menu .Good beer cellar. Just perfect place to stay for as night away.Congratulations to a well run place with an excellent friendly team
Only problem was that the heating was inadequate in our room - the Barker Suite - it was lovely but very big and it took some heating as it was a cold weekend.
Nevertheless it was a great stay with exceptional staff.
Found this place a couple of years ago , third visit food was great as usual , accommodation excellent and staff very friendly would definitely recommend and will return in future.
Wonderful old public house. Fantastic food , good selection of ales. Polite efficient staff.
Room very clean , spacious and tastefully appointed.
Wonderful stay but I feel at £140 per night maybe overpriced.
For that premium I would expect pool, sauna etc etc
However I must point out it was a wonderful night, with a terrific meal also.
Friendly and very helpful welcome. Excellent accommodation and very quiet and comfortable. Food of the highest quality. All staff very helpful and friendly - nothng was too much trouble.
Excellent parking.
Very good value for money.
I would have given them a 5 on service if I didnt have to wait so long at check in.
The rooms are spacious, wifi is good, as is breakfast. They have a decent selection of Ales and the food is very nice (although I did feel the need to order some extra veg with my main meal. I had the Breats of Duck). The starter portion of moules was a decent size.
Car parking is secure and the location although in a quiet rural setting is fantastic for the A1 to get to Alnwick. After initial hiccup with check in, staff were really good, friendly but professional. I would stay here again.
The Cook and Barker is an amazing place, in the middle of nowhere, but close enough to Alnwick and driving distance to Holy Island etc..... staff are really friendly, breakfast is outstanding - thank you. We stayed in the suite and were blown away. Evening meals are exceptional, everything was cleaned to a high standard.
I booked at 8pm, arrived 10.05pm and was unexpected to the ladies working. They looked a bit shocked and told me I was lucky they were still there. They found me a key and After a long drive I asked if could take a drink up to room but they seemed out and only offered up a bottle of cider (presume switch fraught taps off?). I declined went to the room which was a single not the double booked. At that point I went out and drove to nearby Alnwick for a drink.
Just off the A1 but very peaceful location.
Great menu. Food was excellent - both dinner and breakfast. Bar and restaurant were busy but had a lovely atmosphere. It’s a beautiful building with an annexe for accommodation. The slight downside was the noise coming from surrounding rooms.and the cobwebs on the ceiling above the bed. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay.
What a great place. Didn’t have particularly high expectations before we arrived but arrived to a friendly greeting at the cosy bar with the fire lit. The bedroom was bright and spacious, clean and obviously recently upgraded. The bed was comfy and the linen and towels were a good quality. The en-suite had a bath with a great powerful shower overhead, so powerful that the shower screen was unable to contain all the water! We booked a table in the restaurant for our first night but the food was so good, that rather than find a restaurant for our second night we ate in the restaurant again. At the time of booking some of the hotel photos on the hotel.com app were from before the upgrade so check out the hotels website for the updated pictures.
We’ve just returned from a fabulous stay at The Cook and Barker Inn. The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms and facilities are great and the staff are warm and friendly. The dining room is lovely, the food is excellent and overall we had a brilliant time. Breakfast was very nice. We will definitely be returning. The area around the hotel is lovely, lots of natural beauty and the coastline is fantastic!
Lovely property, beautifully maintained and decorated. Very comfortable room, shower, towels new and fluffy, bed comfortable with excellent linens. Delicious breakfast and attentive service. Really nice stay, would highly recommend.
Very convenient for visiting Alnwick and Bamburg castles.
The accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable.
We had reserved a table for dinner but instead of being in the dining room, we were sent to an area off the bar. There were people there with their dogs. The tables were not being cleaned or sanitised between diners. The meal itself was very disappointing. Although the soup starter and desert was good, the mains were not. It looked like everything had been lying around all day. My wife had the nut roast, which was so dried out she couldn't eat it as was the Yorkshire pudding served along with it. The vegetables too looked as if they had been kept warm for most of the day.
