Excellent location, great servicePosted Aug 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
I travelled to Moscow for the World Athletics championships. The hotel exceeded expectations - I knew it wasn't a pure 5* luxury hotel, but it is a good 4* level, with comfortable rooms (Deluxe, 19th floor good). It is expensive, but so are all hotels in Russia. Location within a 5 minute walk of the excellent tube network a major plus point. Drinks in the hotel were expensive, but bar area is nice for an escape. Service was faultless, from visa assistance through to taxi arranging.

Quick reservation for unplanned stay.Posted Aug 2, 2013
Pros: It was very comfortable and I felt at ease here.
Location: I was able to walk to the US Embassy.
I was in Moscow to get a replacement passport for one that was stolen. I had to spend the night and this hotel was available and very nice. My contact in the States was able to use Expedia to make and pay for this reservation with no problems.

Nice hotel, excellent service, very good locationPosted Aug 1, 2013
Pros: Condition, location, room.
Cons: Cheaper breakfast
Location: close to 2 metro stations, to arbat st, and restaurants
Very good hotel, clean and tidy, spacious and comfortable rooms, awesome view of the city. Very good location, close to 2 metro stations and very close to the old Arbat street, a 10 min walk to the new arbat street. Very good restaurants nearby. The concierge was very attentive and helpful. The internet access was free and very good too. Only good things to say about the hotel, would stay there again.

Good but bewarePosted Jul 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent Hotel but beware. I asked for a quote to pick me up at the airport on arrival, and transport me back at the end of my stay. I was quite specific that I wanted a cost for the return journey. I was quoted 3900 rubbles (about £80). I accepted this and agreed that it should be added to my bill. When I was checking out I was charged 7800 rubbles and told that it was 3900 each way. To be fair it was an hours drive and was probably in keeping with what other hotels charge. However I was very specific when I requested the quote that I wanted a price for the return journey and on the quote I received I agreed to use their service. If I had been quoted 7800 rubbles I would have used another means of transport. Also I exchanged £100 sterling in the hotel. My understanding was that the rate was generally around 50 rubbles to £1 so I expected to receive about 5000 rubbles. I was given 4200. This was on the first day I arrived and I later discovered that I could not exchange pounds sterling anywhere in Moscow, they only changed either Euros or Dollars. By coincidence (or not) the Euro rate was generally 42 to the pound. That is 4200 for 100 Euros so I am convinced that the hotel thought that I was exchanging Euros and not Pounds.

Fine HotelPosted Jul 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
I found this hotel to be superior. The desk personnel were helpful and the creature comforts numerous. I was there when the area around the Kremlin and Red Square were shut down by anti-Putin protests (the military stopped Metro service that evening) and I had to pay $40.00 to get back tot he hotel (it is across from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), so with the potential for additional protests, that might be a concern. I cannot fault the hotel, however, as it was a very nice place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to go there again.
