Lovely boutique hotel close to all attractions

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Small, charming, quiet and close to all attractions.
Location: Very close to the Black Gate and all other attractions. Owner can give you a walking map to hit all the attractions when you check in.
I loved this little hotel. We stayed at other small hotels while in Germany, and this one was the best of them all. There is parking behind the hotel for guests. We stayed in a triple room with my husband, me and our 16 year old. The room was small, but comfortable and clean. The bathroom was large by European standards. No AC in the hotel, but we stayed mid-August and had no problems with temp when we popped the windows open. No noise from the street below so we could get a decent night's sleep. Breakfast buffet was traditional German style and well run. The hotel is close to everything you want to see in Trier - Black Gate, churches, gardens and museums. All within walking distance and walking through a large, outdoor shopping area to get to them. Lots of restaurant choices close by too. We would definitely stay at Casa Chiara again.

Close to everything you would want to see in Tier

Posted May 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
Outstanding location to see the sight of Tier. Hotel staff was excellent and made us feel right at home. Two minute walk to the city center and enjoyed the food. Highly recommend if you want a small town atmosphere with great shopping and neat sights.

Small hotel close to the Porta Nigra

Posted May 3, 2014
Pros: The reception was friendly and and the building was attractive.
Cons: The breakfast was good for a small hotel, but the coffee was rather luke warm.
Location: The hotel is in easy walking distance of the main railway station, and is a pleasant stroll through mainly pedestrian precincts to most of the sights
I had a single room in an annexe at the back and it was very quiet. NB access was by a small flight of exterior stairs.

3-star through and through

Posted Feb 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
This was the epitome of a 3-star hotel. It's location is just on the outside of the city center, about a 5-minute walk to the Black Gate. The facilities were adequate for a place to bed-down ... no frills. Breakfast was simple and appropriately priced. However, I thought the room was slightly overpriced, but as a last-minute booking, I was willing to pay it to get a decent room.

Nice hotel in Trier

Had a good 2-night stay at this hotel. Very convenient to the Porta Nigra and town center/sights. Nice room (quiet); very friendly and helpful staff; excellent breakfast. Also has some basic gym facilities in the basement. Highly recommended.

Great hotel, BUT..

Posted Dec 27, 2012 on Hotels.com
Great breakfast, eager to please staff and owner, hi-speed wireless but thin windows and a rough neighborhood make weekend stays pretty unpleasant. I would not stay here over the weekend unless you could contact the hotel and be sure you can get a room on the courtyard.

Good Hotel in Good Location

Posted Aug 28, 2012
This was a very nice hotel in a good location near the Black Gate and city centre and not too far from the train station. Good room, bright and clean. Staff were helpful in recommending a restaurant and looking after our luggage on the day we checked out since our train was not until later. The only negative was that the windows in our "loft" room could not be fully covered by the curtains, which meant some lack of privacy and bright sunlight streaming in soon after the early dawn. But we had eye masks with us so not too big a problem.
