Washington, American's capital, is located 230 miles (370 kilometers) east of Mount Hope.
From major tourist drawcards to hidden gems that still await discovery, Southern West Virginia is crisscrossed with natural and cultural attractions. Beaver, is 10 miles (16 kilometers) to the north. Here you can check out the Someplace Special Gem Mine and Little Beaver State Park.
Grab some transportation and spend some time in Lewisburg, a shopping and transport center for the region, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) away from Mount Hope. The place has a number of points of interest, including Lost World Caverns, Greenbrier Valley Theatre and Lewisburg Elks Country Club. Lewisburg has much of interest for visitors willing to stay for a day or two. North House Museum and West Virginia State Fair Fairgrounds are some of the other places guaranteed to delight.
Should the weather turns nasty; don't panic, Southern West Virginia offers some terrific history museums, that will keep culture vultures busy.
When you hear the call of the great outdoors, follow the lead of active locals and spend the day horse riding and hiking.
