Cozy and quiet...Posted Dec 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
Forest Lodge filled our needs perfectly. My wife and I were just passing through the area after seeing some of the surrounding sights. It was the "off season" for the Lodge so their restaurant/bar was not open but they were kind enough to recommend the Blue Pub for some food and drink and it was very good as well. Small but comfortable room with a nice bathroom - shower only but that is not an issue for us. We were the only patrons in the lodge that night so it was plenty quiet with parking right outside the room. Very pleasant, albeit short, stay!

Great family friendly stayPosted Sep 3, 2013
Location: Methven was a lovely place with a great playground for the kids to play. some great cafes, Restaraunts and pubs and not far from mt hutt for skiing
We had a great stay and the dine in Restaraunt was amazing. The kids had there own play area so we could have some adult time for dinner and drinks while still being able to keep an eye on them in the room below

Off Season at Ski Lodge in MethvenPosted Mar 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
When we arrived there was no one at the lodge. It was off season for a ski lodge and we were the only guests. We were about to leave when the manager drove in to the parking lot. The listing and rate charged suggested a deluxe room in comparison to the other seven nights in New Zealand and although the bathroom was recently updated, the room was small, the mattress was hard and the floor boards creaked. The restaurant was closed for the season and we were referred to breakfast at a restaurant in town that didn't open until 10am.

overal l good but we were the only ones staying that night and the restaurant wasn't open until the skiing season started so very quiet. the room was large with modern bathroom plenty of wardrobe space.Owners advised us where to eat everything we needed but corridors needed brightening up. Good value.

Customer ServicePosted Jan 12, 2012
Pros: Quiet area, but close enough to town
Cons: Customer service by the owner (female)
Location: Quick drive, or a nice long walk to town (about 15mins on a country road to town center)
The Lodge was very nicely presented and nice and clean, but feel that the lady owner could do with some customer service skills...I'd booked a room including breakfast, but was (rather abruptly) informed that they only serve b'fast in the winter months...she made me feel like I was 'demanding' something extra and asked if I had any proof!...and was told (a few times) that people hadn't complained before...it wasn't til she went onto the website that she realized that it was there on the booking form...she took $10 off the bill...which I'd offered to pay up-front, since she seemed in a bit of a fluster with her child...she then took the Visa (as a hold for the room) but when I went to pay in the morning, she'd left the premises and had charged the room to my Visa, which I was a bit annoyed about, as I'd wanted to pay by cash. A note was left to me by herself, explaining that it was the website that had wrongly put the b'fast on the booking form, apologized and hoped I'd return....maybe I will...but as I say, customer service speaks for itself and people don't want to be put off by things, no matter how small or inconsequential they may seem. The Lodge IS Listed as a B&B and that's what you'd expect.
