Comfortable, well worth the rates.

Pros: The glorious beds.
Location: Kayaking, swimming, or boating at Sheridan Lake. Mount Rushmore.
I was very pleased with the beds at the Best Western. I usually anticipate hard, uncomfortable beds and lack of sleep from my hotel stays, so I was thrilled with the comfortable beds at the hotel and the fact that I slept through the night. The indoor pool and hot tub were nice and clean. The outdoor pool has a nice enclosed space, although the pool tends to fill up with bugs (although it is South Dakota, so this isn't necessarily something the hotel can control).

Okay for a night or two

Pros: It was okay
Location: I recommend the Hubcap Diner for great ice cream desserts and the burgers are awesome.
We stayed a week and it was okay, but there are nicer hotels nearby. The have a decent breakfast buffet, but you can not order anything and the scrambled eggs are powdered. Beds were very comfortable and the room was a little tight, but okay. Our room did not have a "bathroom". The sink was right next to the room door, beside which was a closet, just big enough to hold a bathtub and the world's smallest toilet. You have to step aside to close the door. I prefer a bathROOM. For four grown people in a room, it was not comfortable. Their restaurant is good for dinner if you don't feel like going out. The food is good and reasonably priced (and you can order breakfast in the evening).

Enjoyed our stay

Pros: see above, plus even though we didn't have kids, this place is perfect for kids. Continental Breakfast is better than most and has a coffee barista.
Cons: Workout area is extremely small and the indoor pool area needs additional seating.
Location was perfect for going to Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park. Go to Mt Rushmore early in the morning as the sun is better for pictures and it's cooler. Also the 15.00 charge to Custer State park is definitely worth it. Our hotel had Super friendly staff, and very accommodating. Hill City has some cute shops for taking home souvenirs. In fact they have an official Mt Rushmore shop that was better than the one at the park. The food at Desparados downtown is really good. The owner seats the customers and is hands down one of the nicest people we've ever met. Our room was clean, with two TV's and the ability to close off the "kitchen area" from the bedroom. Really nice asset. .

Overall, a good hotel.

Posted Aug 6, 2013
Pros: cleanliness
Cons: breakfast a little unorganized. since this is what attracts a lot of families (as it is included in the price of the hotel), we expected more.
Location: great location, central to many attractions.
First thing that stood out was cleanliness of room...great! The staff, for the most part were great, although some of the breakfast staff were not as friendly. I understand that the breakfast is hectic, but when I asked for some spray for the waffle maker (it was burning everyone's waffles), the staff seemed really put out that I would even ask such a thing (they said they would get it the spray, but never did...I decided to eat a muffin after I scraped out the crispy parts of the iron). The location was good and close to major sight-seeing ventures. Overall, we were okay with the hotel. We would stay there again, but would probably still check into other places as well.

Just passing through

Posted Jul 27, 2013
Pros: The room was better than the outside appearance of the entrance. It was very busy which is a good sign but over priced.
Cons: Not to leave cleaning products...mops & buckets by the entrance.
Location: Outside of a what appeared to be a fun entertaining town.
For 1 night it was good. Not in town like we thought but ok for passing through.

awesome place

Pros: big room, free parking, breakfast included
Cons: noisy fridge, a bit of noise from kids jumping around upstairs
Location: very close to attractions
Hotel was in a great location being very close to where we wanted to be. the staff were friendly and really helpful, in fact when we were checking out at 5am another customer was looking for coffee and the guy in the office offered to go get him one from the kitchen since everything was closed - awesome. there was plenty of parking and the hot breakfasts were great value. i highly recommend this hotel
