“I would stay there again”

Staff was consistently friendly. Free breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausages, juices, coffees, a waffle maker, fresh fruits and breads available. Clean.

Area recommendations

Custer is a cute little town. They have like 2 red lights and quaint buildings with neat shops. We stopped at the local grocery store and they had lots of natural and organic foods, I was pleasantly surprised by that. Everyone we met was very friendly.

Must see

Crazy Horse memorial, and watch the film in the museum.

“great location great amenities”

Our destination was Crazy Horse Monument. The hotel was convenient to our location, quiet, comfortable. Couldn't have asked for more in amenities. We'd go back! The Comfort Inn and Suites was a great choice!

Area recommendations

We visited Crazy Horse Monument on our way to Mt. Rushmore. There appeared to be other attractions in the immediate area - Flintstones campground - that would appeal to travelers w/young family members. It is a pleasant tourist area.

“Would stay here again and again!”

Very CLEAN! Great Location....centrally located to many tourist areas...15 minutes to jewel cave, 10 minutes to custer state park and wildlife loop, 20 minutes to Sylvan Lake, 25 minutes to Mt Rushmore and Keystone, 20 minutes to Crazy Horse and Hill City. Free breakfast was very good and the pool is open from 10p to midnight for adults only! All hotel staff was very friendly!!!!!! Very impressed!

“Great Service and Friendly Service.”

The staff were excellent beyond expectations--both the front desk and the breakfast staff. It was close to all we wanted to see. Pool was much larger than most of this genre.

“Comfortable Stay”

The hotel is well kept and very clean. Employees were friendly, and all accomodations were good. Not a top notch hotel, but somewhere we would stay again if headed that way.

Within 20 minutes of Crazy Horse Memorial, Mount Rushmore, and many scenic drives through Custer State Park and the Mount Rushmore National Park.

Dining

Ate at Sage Creek Grill. My wife isn't big on steak, but she's still raving about the steak she had two days later now that we're home. I had the Walleye which was also quite good. Both dishes came with an assortment of grilled potatoes including white and sweet potatoes as well as grilled vegetables. Wine list was extensive, but we did not partake. If we went back, it'd be the place we headed to.

“Not up to Expectation”

First impressions are everything, right? To begin our stay, the desk staff was busy in the back on the phone and had to be interrupted to check us in. He didn't seem to thrilled at the burden. Our room keys stopped working the last day, so he apparently didn't even program the right check out day in them. Next, the room was not very comfortably furnished, with one tiny desk jammed in the corner where you could hardly back the chair out without hitting against the TV cabinet. Not even a comfortable chair to sit on for watching TV, just a small desk-type chair. The bed pillows were more like throw pillows. On to the breakfast: two kids running the kitchen? COME ON! Almost everything I looked at was empty. Asked for more eggs and the container of egg mix was still frozen...great planning for a busy Sunday breakfast crowd...NOT!. The next two days they served only biscuits and gravy. Sorry, but breakfast should be more than carbs and fat. The last day we went out for some real food. I do want to compliment the cleanliness of the facility. The dining room and pool area were clean, as was the room. The location was convenient, right on the main drag in Custer.

“Custer Rocks”

My family loved our recent visit to Custer, SD. Comfort Inn and Suites was an excellent place to stay. Our room was clean and spacious. We loved all of the local attractions from Flintstone village, just across the street, to Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore. My kids were also fascinated by all of the rocks and all of the wild west history offered in this town. My husband also enjoyed the local bar that features swinging doors and a sawdust floor. We will definitely go back again and stay at Comfort Inn and Suites while we are there.

Area recommendations

Downtown was awesome! When we return we will spend more time exploring the wild west history of this town. Our trip this time centered on Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore which was fabulous also.

Nice hotel, good location, double check your final bill, We were happy with this location.

Area recommendations

Make sure you visit Jewel Cave and the beautiful undiscovered town of Hot Springs, the Mammoth site is spectacular.

“friendly clean hotel”

Nice clean hotel with great rooms, location ideal, very happy with stay, suggest to improve breakfast food quality to more healthy selections such as fresh fruit, granola cereals, and yogurt and eliminate all the heavy bread selections. Treadmill is somewhat old and could use a flat screen TV in there instead. Otherwise great hotel, give it a 4.3 out of 5, would go back for sure

Sage Grill Restaurant in Custer very nice, dinner at Sylvan Lodge wonderful with fireplace, Custer has a great medical clinic we used with great Drs, excellent service, supposed to be best in the area
