A peace of heaven in the mountains!
What a great place to stay! All the comforts of home. Ron and Leslie were so wonderful to all the guests and had some great tips on where to go and not to go. Leslie made a delicious breakfast every morning and had the table set beautifully. Myke and I enjoyed the peaceful environment that surrounds their home.

Centrally located B&B
This area in South Dakota is historic and beautiful. The Elk Ridge B&B is centrally located and is in a rural area. We saw many deer roaming the property. On one of our outings we had a flat tire and could not find a place to fix it due to the late hour. Leslie insisted on picking us up and taking us back to the B&B. Ron and Leslie were wonderful hosts. Will definitely be back.

It Couldn’t Have Been Better
Elk Ridge Bed and Breakfast was an ideal match for us. The hosts were genuinely interested in making our stay enjoyable. They recommended many sights and opinions, directions and made calls for reservations for us. The home is comfortable and every amenity one might need is available. Breakfast was beautifully served and delicious. Each morning the table was beautifully set. After our day was over our hosts invited us to visit with them in the living room. The setting is just beautiful and and so very quiet. There is much to do in this area of South Dakota. We just loved our entire stay and many thanks for the care and attention of Leslie and Ron, our hosts.

Great host that made you feel welcomed and like family. The accommodations were perfect for us, everything we needed to feel like home. We was always greeted with a welcome home sweet, every night after a day of sightseeing.

Sweet retreat with wildlife!!!
This is a great place to stay! A quiet jumping off point for many adventures in the area! Fun to see the deer and red squirrels there! Our hosts, Leslie and Ron, had a wealth of information and recommendations for things to do and places to go! Leslie & Ron are great host. Breakfast was fantastic both days we were there. They were very easy to talk to and helpful, willing to take our bikes way out of the way without charge, we had to stuff a tip in Ron's pocket. Room was cozy and clean, comfortable bed private entrance.

This Bed and Breakfast is a private home. Although the home is ok, it needs a bit of updating. We had a private entrance, which was very much appreciated. On entering the home, there is a strong smell of sour cigarette smoke in the common area (kitchen and den) which wafts into the sleeping rooms. Although the mattress was a Sleep Number, it was not comfortable and needs to be replaced. The edge of the mattress on one side had collapsed and caused a deep slump in the bed. The room is small and had too much furniture (I'm sure in an effort to make it appear decorated) but if felt cramped and cluttered and there was nowhere to put our luggage other than on the floor. There is a friendly cat that roams around but it might be a problem for those with cat allergies. The breakfast was delicious and the matron is an accomplished cook. However, there is an attitude from the owners that is a bit disturbing. When the meal was not completely finished she suggested that we didn't like it. There was a sense of being offended because we were not staying longer but moving on to other destinations on our trip. We had to leave early the final morning since we had a long drive and did not take breakfast. The man said that if we didn't want breakfast we should have stayed at a regular hotel. He may or may not be right but that is our option either way. They were just bit too judgmental for us and made us anxious to move on. The surrounding were beautiful, though, with deer in the yard.

Your review has surprised us, while here, you never mentioned anything and unfortunately, once you leave, there is nothing we can do to have made your visit more pleasant. Our previous reviews have awarded us the highest rating in the area this past decade. We have a website that goes into detail regarding our B&B including pictures so guests know the atmosphere they are coming to. We love our antiques and log furniture and completed the look with an old western style which is not uncommon in this part of the country. I do admit we didn't realize when our guests were sitting outside with the fire pit going, that one of them accidently left the door open but we closed it when we discovered it. The Sleep Number beds were quite an investment and ranges from too soft to too hard and everywhere else in between, had you asked, we would have gladly shown you how to adjust the settings for your comfort. Those of us who have turned our personal residences into a bed & breakfast frequently have pets which we also mention on our website. In addition, it is important to us that we are able to accommodate people's food allergies/issues so any time someone is not eating, I do ask so I can offer something else - most people appreciate that concern. I have no response for why you did not utilize the luggage rack. I do not know how to respond to the muttering of staying at a hotel instead or the standing in judgment.

Perfect mountain bed and breakfast
Upon arrival you see that this is a quaint location with amazing views. The rooms are nicer than any hotel. I would recommend this location to anyone that wants to come to the mountains for a romantic getaway or who wants to be located within a few miles of Mt. Rushmore.

Bed and breakfast in the Black Hills
I have always wanted to stay at a traditional bed and breakfast. Elk Ridge did not disappoint! Ron and Leslie were so gracious the accommodations were just what we expected. Everything was so clean and up-to-date with each guest having a private bathroom. The breakfasts we were served were amazing! The place setting and all the attention to detail was so appreciated. Would recommend this bed-and-breakfast to everyone.

Leslie & Ron are wonderful innkeepers/hosts! We really enjoyed visiting with them over breakfast each morning. Comfortably sized bedroom/en suite with a sliding glass door leading outside. The B&B is within easy driving distance of area attractions, is nestled away off the highway with plenty of deer strolling about.

My son is a AFA Cadet and he was on Spring Break and proposed to his girlfriend at Mount Rushmore. The couple who owned the bed and breakfast was very accommodating and helpful. The rooms were awesome.

We enjoyed staying here, although we didn't realize we'd literally be staying in a room in someone's house. It did have a bit of a smokey smell, and the hair dryer and shower spout didn't work right. We felt well-cared for by the owners, and they were very pleasant to converse with over breakfast. FYI, there is a cat that stays in the house, but we liked that.

Arrived and greeted by a group of deer on the property :). The staff was warm and welcoming and made sure we were comfortable. After we came back from dinner our bed was turned down with freshly baked cookies waiting for us on the bed. It was so cute! We will definitely be back again in the future!

Leslie and Ron were the most gracious hosts I have ever encountered. They really made us feel at home, and it was nice being able to talk with them and learn about the local area. The rooms are spacious and comfortable! A wonderful jet tub to relax in after a day of hiking or bike riding! Night time turn downs from the Inn keeper with cookies to quiet that need for a bed time snack! Wild life is abundant and right outside your dining area! Inn keepers with lovely and warm welcoming attitudes! They have an abundant amount of knowledge for the area which makes starting your adventure easy! Warm and welcoming!

Fabulous location, hosts Leslie and Ron were welcoming. Being able to see deer from your bedroom window was magical. Breakfast was a social affair with the other guests - conversation flowed and it was brilliant to have that kind of interaction on a very long trip. Leslie is a fantastic cook - her ability to adapt to guest requirements is very special.

Nice place, hosts very nice, but room size very small, no blackout curtains on the windows, no options for the breakfast, including schedule... breakfast fixed at 8:00 a.m. , it was not enough flexible to me. Worst wi-fi connection I've had in the last 5 years :( not able to open a web page... except in some rare occasions.

Absolutely wonderful. Location was just what we were looking for - restful "away from it all" - surrounded by beautiful scenery. Hosts were welcoming and breakfasts were delicious. Our room had a jacuzzi and TV. Note: no cell phone or wi-fi in the area. Had to drive about 6 miles for cell phone service, and into Hiil City for wi-fi.

Can't say enough about this place & the owners, Ron & Leslie. They made us feel like family. Prayers before breakfast...and the food was wonderful, room was great with private patio. (which we never used because we sat with them on their deck that over looked a small valley with deer. At night we watched shooting stars & listened to the wind through the trees). Ron was great with directions & things to do. Leslie saw to our every need. It's out in the country, but only 6mi. from Mount Rushmore. Would go again.

Ron and Leslie’s Bed & Breakfast is one of a kind in the eyes of my wife and I. We recently stayed at this Bed and Breakfast for two nights and do not have anything but good things to say. It is hidden in the woods of the Black Hills and is very close to numerous attractions. Ron and Leslie’s house is very comforting and inviting, from the daily breakfast (which is simply delicious) to the nightly surprises waiting for us in our room when we returned from a long day of sightseeing. Our room was wonderfully comfortable, and the Jacuzzi tub was a favorite treat. There is no better place to relax and escape from the world for awhile. And don’t let the winter weather scare you away! There are still plenty of things to see and do! Ron and Leslie were wonderful hosts. We could have stayed for days just chatting with them and spending time in the woods of the Black Hills. Their bed and breakfast felt like a home away from home, and we cannot wait to return!

Delightful Bed & Breakfast
Elk Ridge B&B is a little hard to find, but certainly worth the effort. It's in South Dakota's Black Hills, in the middle of a peaceful meadow, with a delightful view of the BACK of Mt Rushmore. The hosts are absolutely wonderful, and their breakfast is to die (and perhaps later go on a diet) for. Highly recommended.
