“One of nicest Holiday Inn Express and Suites I've been in.”

“Had a great time”

We went to this hotel during the down season so were disappointed in all the buisnesses that were closed. But the receptionist gave us great ideas of what to do and where to eat. She was great help. Our trip was a success!

“Fit my needs”

The hotel was clean and conveinient and in the heart of Black Hills tourism. Parking lot was a bit cramped and so many stalls left open for employees. That was wierd. Clean hotel and clean rooms are a must and this hotel did not disappoint even at the tail end of the tourist season. Not knowing it was off season and the need for a room at that time to do a marathon, I could have gotten a much cheaper rate waliing in off the street at area hotels of comparable quality for half what I paid. A guaranteed room comes with piece of mind and a little more cost. One complaint was to very lous young children that ran and jumped constantly around the hotel and the staff did nothing right along with the parents. Unfortunately there room or should I say gymnasium was right above our room and we listened to constant thumping until 10 pm each day as well as the hallway.

“A Pleasant Stay!”

Keystone is as close as you can get to Mt. Rushmore but there is nothing to do there except visit ordinary suvenier shops. Our hotel was okay - clean and quiet. The rooms actually have windows that open, a luxery these days! The fan (with or without the AC) can be run all night for some "white noise" so we never had to wear our earplugs (we are very sensitive to noise). Also a plus was the black-out curtains that really worked. The "free" breakfast was alittle better than normal, as it changed daily, but they always offerered buscuits and gravy and some form of sausage. Also on the breakfast buffet were really good sweet rolls - that are hot and covered - so were not dried out! The coffee always tasted weak and watered down and they never kept the hot-water caraffe replenished so could make no tea in the evening. The people at the front desk could have been more friendly and outgoing. The front lobby has a gas fireplace which was lit in the cool evening. The pool area and hot-tub looked nice but we did not go in. Try the Mexican restaurant, a family-run establishment, which you can walk to - doesn't look like much but the food was great! The Ruby House restaurant was dreadful and overpriced even though it looks nice from the outside. Try th salt-water taffy or fudge shops for a treat!

“Predictable good quality from HI”

This is a fauirly new facility with friendly staff, conveniently located slightly away from the busiest street in Keystone.

Area recommendations

Keystone is small enough that this question is moot but this hotel is in a quieter location although still very central.

Must see

Everyone goes to Keystone to visit Mt. Rushmore, where you should take the short Trail of Presidents too. We also visited the Badlands, Wall Drug and Wind Cave (some tours are longer but you're still in a cave), in a one and a half day excursion.

“excellent customer service”

I will definitely return to this hotel next time I am in Keystone. The customer service was great. Due to a misrepresentation of the room description by Expedia, we were without a fridge and microwave. After notifying Andrea at the front desk of this, the problem was resolved by the hotel, even though they were not responsible. It is this kind of service (along with a good breakfast buffet) that will make us want to return to this hotel.
