Nothing special, but perfectly OKPosted Jun 15, 2013
Pros: balcony with great view
Cons: lack of dining facilities (menu choice and breakfast options)
Location: great central location for all major tourist attractions
First the good - the location is very good with views towards the mountains, and our room was high up with a balcony, so great. There was ample parking at the back of the hotel. A 10 minute walk into the centre of Keystone which is lovely - much better than staying in the sprawling Rapid City, and the location is superb for Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, Jewel Cave etc etc. Lots of activities for families too - there was a new alpine activity centre just opened opposite the hotel. Now the not so good. This hotel appeared to be twice the price of others in Keystone - not sure why? The breakfast was a bit of a first come, first served situation- if you were lucky you got a choice of food items before they ran out (and weren't replenished very rapidly if at all# and also somewhere to sit to eat it. There was only one coffee sachet provided in the room per 24 hrs- this tied in with the overall impression that everything was being run on a tight budget. If you don't like Pizza which is the hotel's provision for dining #which we don't)then there is plenty of choice elsewhere in Keystone. Alex Polizzi (aka The Hotel Inspector) would have a few good ideas for improvements.

Overall nice stayPosted Jul 26, 2012
Pros: nice central location to multiple sites pool
Cons: a bit pricey...but that's tourist areas didn't like the hill going into the parking lot...but that's what you get for being in the "Hills".
Location: Very convenient location.
We had an overall nice stay here. It's a bit pricey for what you get, but that's how it is in tourist areas.

lousey lobby and no juice for breakfastPosted Jul 22, 2012
Never heard of a front desk closing at 10pm In a tourist area where people and famlies are out till dark the lobby has to remain open. And you should not sound like ity is a huge inconvience if there is a pizza ordered. and you said you would stay open for it's delivery

Pool is ridiculous. Not family oriented. Old and small.

Spend your hard earned money on a better hotel!!Posted May 29, 2012
Pros: Location was great, however there are other hotels near. Stay there.
Cons: Service was bad. Elevator and lobby shuts down every night and they don't post times.
Location: Great location. Stay elsewhere!
The only thing that might get me back is their location, however there are other hotels next door and that's where I would stay. Front desk service is terrible I had to wait 40 minutes just to check in. I called the hotel during that time with my cell phone hoping someone would answer. Nope too much to hope for. Hot tub looked dirty and not appealing at all. Internet worked when it wanted to, not reliable at all. The room was smaller then I thought and had a view of rocks out the window. If we would have stayed on the other side of the hotel the view would have been much better. If you want to park, they have free parking, however they don't tell you they only have room for half their rooms for cars to park and if you don't get in early enough you are screwed. Also, if you have a trailor good luck. You probably won't have anywhere to park. This hotel lobby and elevator shuts down every night and they don't tell you or have the times posted on the floors so I ended up wanting for the elevator to go get ice for 20 minutes and ended up taking the stairs. Just a sign saying the elevator shuts down would have been nice, again too much to hope for. They state the rooms are sound proof, which is not true at all. For your money stay somewhere else, you will get more with your money from other hotels. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will never return.

Nice stayPosted Apr 1, 2012
Nice hotel and staff. The historical factor of the hotel was neat too. The only negative I would report is the fact that an indoor pool is advertised but whats not advertised is that its only open in the summer.

Good for price and locationPosted Mar 29, 2012
visited during the off season. Friendly staff and room was cleaned daily. Amenities were ok. I didn't use the pool so I cannot comment. Provided soap was small and the towels are thin. Heat worked well, I did not use the air conditioning. Continental breakfast was small. Pizzeria attached was very good.

Decent place to stay, no problems.Posted Mar 19, 2012
Hotel is very close to Mt. Rushmore, Black Hills Forrest and Custer State Park. It is walking distance (across the street) from the alpine slides and Presidential Wax museum- however both were closed "for the season." Decent hotel and met our needs for a clean, convenient place to stay. Pool was also closed for the season (it was mid-March) Restaurant downstairs, while not owned by the hotel, is great. Very good pizza and good service.

Location mattersPosted Feb 29, 2012
Pros: The location and the view from my balcony
Cons: No study table to work on my Laptop
Location: Its closest to Mount Ruhmore.
The hotel is nicely located for people visiting Mount Rushmore. The view from my balcony was pleasing. The view from rooms facing the parking might not be as pleasing. Hotel is little distant from commercial area.
