Lovely Trip

Posted May 21, 2014
Pros: Free breakfast was really tasty and filling !!!
Location: There is a beautiful hiking trail and a waterfall nearby in walking distance and a very cute little town if you have a car.
Went there to get away for w few days. Very clean, cozy, private. Free breakfast was delicious and I was most certainly impressed! The price is WAYYY cheaper if you don't use Expedia though.

Could Be Better

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: The diner.
Location: Not much going on in March. The summer months might be different.
Not the best motel but maybe the best in the town as it was one of the few opened for guests. No elevator. The motel puts up railway workers on the GP Line. Enough said. The diner is opened 24 hours and serves most anything that can be fried or deep fried. Good hearted diner staff.

OK option among several in Dunsmuir

Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: Easy off-on the freeway (if you know which way to turn). Decent restaurant on the premises -- not a chain, so a bit of character. Clean, basic rooms.
Location: Dunsmuir is a pleasant small town with an historic town center.
Arrived late in Dunsmuir and found the directional signs off of southbound I-5 misleading... Eventually stopped at a gas station and was directed back to the hotel. Be sure to check your maps. Check-in was at the restaurant, which was OK, but there was only one person there, and he seemed to be a bit confused as to how to do the process. Eventually I got my room key and could walk over to the motel building. The room was fine, despite a bit of an odd odor (maybe cleaning materials). Had a fridge and coffee maker. Bed was reasonably comfortable and the heater was sufficiently quiet that I could sleep. There is NO elevator, so if you might need that, be sure to ask for a ground-floor room. In the morning, the full cooked breakfast was included, and was reasonably well prepared.
