Worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!!

Posted Jun 16, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Cleanliness...maybe just demolition would be better!!
Obviously the owners do not care about first impression, as there were dead bugs in the entry way. Unfortunately, since I booked through Expedia, my payment was non refundable, or I would have turned around and walked out. There were crumbs and dirt all up the stairs (no elevator). At least the sheets were clean, but I would not even shower there. Basically, I couldn't get out of there quick enough!! The only positive thing I can say is that the check in clerk was at least nice.

Not a high end hotel at all.

Pros: Best things about the hotel - microwave and fridge, price, only hotel in the immediate area. Not bedbugs (that I saw). Allows pets.
Cons: Definitely needs updating. Old carpet, old furniture, needs paint and repairs, no hairdryer. Had to ask for coffee maker and then no cups.
Location: Fast food places and a restaurant, grocery nearby. Easy to get to. Near Ohio River.
This is an old hotel that has seen better days. Mostly used by workmen in the area. It fit my needs...barely. On the plus side - price, easy access, some fast food places nearby. I thought it was relatively quiet but others haven't. I slept well. In-room fridge and microwave. Good if you travel with a pet. On the negative side - dirty, curtains haven't been washed in years. Old furniture, needs paint, no hairdryer! No coffee maker in room; I had to ask. They brought one but there were no cups. Checked out the free breakfast but it wasn't much and the milk was spoiled. I ate at fast food down the road. Wasn't sure about security since the end door didn't actually lock and I had to jiggle my door to make it lock. Would only advise for those desperate or who travel with a pet. Or for workmen who stay by the week.

The stay at the Motel was just okay. The breakfast they had out left a lot to be desired. The room info said breakfast was ready at 6 AM to 10 Am, there was not much selection of rolls, the jelly was like glue, there was no butter for the bagel and there was no coffee made. The room was clean and the staff friendly even if most of them could not speak English. I probably would stay there again.

We stayed for 4 days recently. Our room was not cleaned once. We asked for non smoking but definitely could smell smoke in our room. There were stains and holes in the wall. I guess though for the price we shouldnt have been surprised.

Website Lied

Posted Jun 19, 2013
Pros: Nothing. We cancelled the reservation and didn't stay...opting for a Motel 6 - they left the light on.
Cons: Tear it down and start over. It was so dingy and dirty from the outside, I would've almost preferred to stay at one of the abandoned factories nearby
Location: Mt. Vernon is NOT scenic.
The website for this hotel claimed it was "just outside Evansville" and mentioned "scenic Mt. Vernon". It was about 20 MILES outside of Evansville and tucked away in a scenic (and partially abandoned) industrial area. Not cool at all.

Clean & comfortable - great value.

Pros: location, price, professional staff
Cons: none
Location: be aware your GPS may not send you the right direction - contact the hotel staff for better directions
Stayed by myself for the weekend in Mt Vernon, IN to attend some advanced training courses across the river in a tiny town in Illinois. The hotel was a good value to me - king bed w/ Jacuzzi that worked great on sore muscles from a long drive - the bed could be better but not a "deal-breaker". Also worth noting, because I'm in the public health field, I did check the mattress as soon as I came into the room for signs of bedbugs and discovered NO evidence - very clean & reassuring. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what I was looking for (the tub sparkled). The one and only issue I had was finding it on GPS, which I learned is a common issue (sent me to some corn fields initially) but the staff was good in helping me finding the hotel over the phone ((you're looking for 3 huge car lots in a line, hotel is behind them, right off the "main drag")). After 2 nights at the Mt Vernon Inn, I would absolutely recommend this hotel (& if I'm ever in the area again, I'd stay there for sure). You're less than 15minutes to fast-food, a couple of small restaurants, a CVS drug store, nail salon, & other misc shopping. Good value, good location, great staff. Thanks again!
