We arrived from Jo'Burg on a picture perfect day in South Africa. It was the July thus the air temperature was a little cool. The staff on arriving were fantastic considering that we were travelling with two children (7 & 5 Years). The hotel staff lit a fire in our room at 5pm. The hotel building and location are beautiful. The grounds are stunning. We had breakfast here the following morning which was excellent. The staff and hotel are excellent, I am recommending this place to my in-laws for October. I would stay here again. I would also recommend going to the bird sanitary on the way into town, very knowledgeable and they but on a great show which is done twice a day, also Harres Pancakes is not to be missed as well as the Avil Brewery Pale Ale.

Booked a room for two nights at this hotel as an "Expedia Special Rate", and the price was very very cheap for the area, and we wanted a comfortable place to sleep after roughing it in Kruger Park for the previous week.
The room itself was spacious, nice comfortable bed, and good amenities in the room. The downside is that the building wasn't really well constructed, as the walls were paper-thin and you could hear every conversation that occurred in adjoining rooms. Additionally, hotel staff tended to congregate outdoors outside our hotel room which also contributed to noise.
The hotel is also on top of a very steep hill well out of town - fine if you have a car, but don't plan on getting to any local restaurants or shops very quickly. The hotel has a restaurant/bar on site, but they didn't have an 'a la carte' menu - only a buffet deal, and we were a little nervous about ordering the food as we appeared to be the only guests who might be eating, and they were going to whip up whatever they had leftover in the fridge.

The Lodge is just ok, nothing to write home about. The breakfast is acceptable, with a bit of variety. On our first morning there, we were told breakfast will be served at 06:30, but by 07:00, they were still mopping the floor. Now having to drive all the way early morning to Kruger National Park, with roadworks all the way, that was not how things should be done. The room we were given, had a old everything, beds, sink, bath, but for the price you pay, I guess it's worth it.
