Way off path, middle of nowhere if you like thatPosted Jan 26, 2014
Pros: It was clean
Cons: Keeping your word. If you confirm reservation then be honest if you don't have any, rather than taking the money and putting them in whatever room
Specifically booked and got confirmation for room with king size bed. Expedia confirmed reservation will be held for late arrival. Got there and was given room with 2 beds. Despite my requests I was told they didn't have any. So much for making and getting confirmed reservation.

Beautiful grounds and excellent accomodationsPosted Aug 8, 2013
Location: La Fortuna is within 20 minutes, one river next to the grounds and one five minutes away.
In Costa Rica space and parking is luxury. At this hotel we were provided with both. We were able to walk out of our room and take a walk in the jungle or the grounds for as long as we wanted, without being concerned about traffic.

Absolute dream vacation in tropical rain forestPosted Jul 29, 2013
Pros: Clean, modern, upper-class, and quiet. It is very well maintained and modern, while being eco-friendly and conservative. Very large private, secluded.
Cons: No negative feedback, it was great.
Location: Muelle (5 min drive) has gen.store and several restaurants, Tabacon Hot Springs (GREAT day trip) and Arenal Volcano Natl Park are easy drive dist.
This place is wonderful, and a steal for the price! It's quiet, clean, first-class, and has plenty of activities both in the resort and nearby. The restaurant serves tasty and healthy food, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, there are nice tennis courts and a gym on the premises. The pool and hot tub were clean. Lovely butterfly sanctuary, and the entire place was a botanic garden with a variety of tropical plants and medicinal herbs. Located next to a rolling river, we saw giant iguanas on the lawns, and a sloth sleeping in the tree near our room. We had a great horseback ride and rainforest tour at Tilajari, with two guides who showed us many plants and animals that we had missed on self-guided tours. Driving to this area, we saw nothing to prepare us for this hidden gem, it's really out of the way but did not disappoint. I highly recommend this hotel/resort.

Bird sticks.Posted May 1, 2012
Pros: Bird sticks.
Cons: Difficult to get a reservation. Kept being booked.
Loved everything about this place. The comfortable room, the beautiful landscaping, the butterfly house, but especially the bird sticks! What a way to start the day.

End of April VacationPosted Apr 29, 2012
Pros: Fruit on a stick outside the dining room....watching the hundreds of birds feast!
Location: Serenely situated on a river 20 minutes from the busy little town of La Fortuna.
Extremely quiet with a dedicated, helpful staff. We had the place to ourselves. Beautiful pool and hot tub. Plenty of outdoor activities on the property. Great food.

Basic rooms, beautiful grounds, middle of nowherePosted Jan 4, 2012 on Hotels.com
We stayed 2 nights January 2012. The hotel is far from anything; a 30 minute drive to La Fortuna town, then another 10 minutes to the hot springs. But it was a peaceful, quiet location. The grounds are large and pretty with a tennis court and soccer field. A river runs behind the property and there are iguanas everywhere. We also saw a crocodile by the river - it's not for swimming! The pool and jacuzzi were also nice. The breakfast at the restaurant was a buffet with eggs, gallo pinto, fruit, pancakes, juice, and coffee. It was all fine, but not great. The rooms are pretty basic and could use some updating and maintenance. No fridge or microwave. The window was broken, and the water from the shower didn't drain. For both nights the sheets did not stay on the bed; it was a little gross to be sleeping directly on the mattress. We felt it was fine for the money, but probably won't be back.

Tilijari Resort - What a beautiful place!Posted Aug 31, 2010 on Hotels.com
It's a little off the beaten path - 15 minutes outside of Fortuna, but it's a hidden gem. Meals were great, staff was really nice, but the best part was the fauna and the flora. It's like a little animal park and botanical garden all in one, from the butterfly garden, to the colorful birds, to the large iguanas roaming the grounds. The tropical plants and flowers are everywhere. This is a great place for families. The rooms are large and nicely decorated. The pool was cool and inviting. Because our stay was during the off season, hotel occupancy rate was low. This made it feel like it was our own little paradise. Highly recommended!!!
