“Pleasant Experience”

Thoroughly enjoyed the overnight stay. Had arrived in Mumbai on a rainy day after a non-stop 14 hour flight from Newark, USA. As confirmed earlier (via email), there was someone from the hotel to receive me at the airport; checkin was smooth. the room was super clean; buffet breakfast was high quality. The only blemish was the hot water in the shower was not as hot as we got used to in the USA.

I could have avoided my only bad experience with the Mirage. Though close to the airport, they are kind of hidden & no one seemed to know them. My phone didn't work in India & I ended up taking a cab, which was disastrous. But they do have free airport shuttle, so if I could have called them I could have had a very easy trip to the hotel. If you stay here,and I recommend it highly, call them in advance & arrange for pick-up. They'll be happy to oblige. Now the good part: while not as massive as the Grand Hyatt with its plethora of clubs & bars, the Mirage's lobby was, to me, though smaller, even more elegant (it's a boutique hotel--and they do have a nice bar & restaurant). Done in frosted seafoam green glass, marble & blond wood floors, it had a kind of 50s retro futuristic dinner-club atmosphere. The rooms were just as nice, with big baths & walk-in showers, and combination marble & wood floors. The service was superb! I asked for a lot: ironing boards, extra towels, massage oil, wake-up, and they provided everything, and FAST! They were also very timely about getting our rooms cleaned each morning. It's in a typical near-the-airport neighborhood but the Mirage is as nice as any 4-star boutique hotel I've stayed in in LA or San Francisco, AND it was about half the price of similar-rated hotels in Mumbai! I was expecting--and would have been satisfied with--much less given what I paid.

Courtesy airport pick up, 15 min free access to a computer and internet and quality of room and bathroom greatly exceeded my expectation. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel provided 5 star service at a reasonable price.

“Mumbai sanctuary”

We have traveled extensively throughout Asia and India , but had never been to Mumbai. Before entering the Hotel , only a few meters, there were many poor people living under shelters made from plastic and was raining ..OMG ... and road was very busy with trucks and horns .. Checking in was o.k. but we were not sure whether we intended on staying ..and even mentioned 'we may only stay for one night' but we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room , size , and not too different from a 5 star Hotel. A bottle of wine was sent up minutes later from the Manager , with a note saying thankyou for staying at the Mirage. From there it only got better, the complimentary breakfast was fabulous , also the staff were all lovely and helpful.We took a Hotel driver ..do not get a driver from outside the Hotel ! and saw the sites of Mumbai , had lunch at the famous TajMahal Hotel which was very expensive .. and were happy to dine back at the Mirage where the food was also excellent and the prices to match. We ended up booking 3 extra nights and realized we had made a good choice, through Expedia as the reviews we had read were all true...an 'oasis' in Mumbai at very good rates. highly recommend, and would go back.

Thanks expedia for listing this hotel. Nothing to pick or complaint. One advise to travelers. If you reach Bombay airport at night or early AM use ony prepaid taxi service at airport. Do not allow any one help you find taxi or allow the touch bags. If so 2 or three people wil join for help and later collectivly charge you high amount. it happend to me even I am a Native . I did not get hotel van to hotel. But return with free prompt service. George March 2011

“Fit for purpose”

Generally good, convenient to the airport, good size room, decent bathroom. Met all requirements. Only minor problemwas lack of shuttle at airport, but that was not a major problem.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel and plan to stay there again when I return.

The only problem I had was with the hot water. I learnt that one should confirm there is hot water before getting into the shower. It appears that one has to run the hot water tap for the longest time before actually getting hot water. The hotel was clean, and well maintained. However, the surroundings are pathetic. However, it is not an issue if one doesn't have to go out.
