“Glad I stayed and will return”
Just excellent in every way from the start. I stayed for 14 days and arrived early (10:00 AM), was immediately welcomed and given a room. Every single interaction I had with the staff was cheerful and helpful- they truly go out of their way for their guests. This is a family atmosphere hotel, not your typical tourist hotel one finds in the major world cities. The property is close enough to the main train station to easily walk with luggage, but far enough removed from all the traffic, noise, and people. The property itself is very clean and organized, three buildings surrounding a courtyard with off the street parking. Breakfast each morning was abundant; more than expected and one could eat a variety of great foods to include fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs (scrambled or hard boiled) as well as the standard yummy German breads, sliced meats and cheeses. There is also a German store complex just around the corner with two grocery stores. To sum it all up, central location for exploring Munich, outstanding people, clean, quiet place to sleep, great coffee and breakfast in the morning, and very competitive rate when one compares it the other hotels in the general area.
“Would return in a heartbeat”
The hotel definitely exceeded expectations. Breakfast was wonderful, with both hot and cold selections. Room was a little small fo 2 people (according to US standards) but the location was perfect. The desk staff was VERY helpful when trying to sort out the eurail pass fiasco and they went out of their way to help solve the problem, even though it had nothing to do with them. I would DEFINITELY recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Will return next trip to Munich!”
This is a great hotel! Pros: Location: 3 minute walk from the central train station, close to all types of public transit, and near several Munich attractions. Great breakfast: included in room rate, German and American style breakfast foods available. Room comfort: The room was very comfortable, with a hairdryer. Hotel Staff: Helpful, friendly, English-speaking staff. The people you see in the picture as the people you will meet at the hotel. Price: Good value for the room comfort and services. Cons: Room size: The room was small. This doesn't bother me' but many Americans are not used to the size of hotel rooms in Europe. They are all small. Internet and TV are not free: There is a charge for these services, and my only real con for this hotel.
“Great stay”
Perfect location and wonderful staff. The only thing I wished they would have reserved me that nonsmoker room....but they switched me and tried everything possible to cater to my needs.
“Very convenient location to the train station and tour departure site!”
Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable room. Great location. There are a number of stairs from the street level to get up into the lobby making it difficult to bring up heavy luggage. The hotel does have an elevator to get to the rooms though.
“Great Value for Money”
For the price, the hotel was lovely. The room and bathroom is spacious for European standards, and very clean. The breakfast area is charming with an ample and satisfying selection of dishes. It's the hotel to choose in Munich if you're looking for an affordable place, without compromising the quality of your stay.
“Munich Treasure”
The Alfa Hotel was an emergency find when other accommodations fell through at the last minute. We chose it because if its proximity to points of interest in Munich and proximity to the U-Bahn, and it was a very good choice indeed. The room was downright spacious by European standards, and it was comfortable and immaculate. Breakfast was included and offered a range of selections, overseen by observant attendants. It was a great value for the money, and I'd seek it out to stay there again.
“Non-smoking room not guaranteed. Excellent breakfast. Strange shower set-up.”
1. Non-smoking room was not guaranteed, but luckily for me, was granted. Beware of this if you are asthmatic or allergic. 2. Walls were thin and the French men next door were quite noisy late at night. 3. Breakfast was included and included an excellent assortment of nutritious foods. This was the most impressive aspect of the hotel. 4. In order to shower, I had to exit the building, enter another, and use the shower of a room belonging to someone who had apparently just checked out that morning, which was not very hygienic... additional showers were in basement. 5. My concern about four little brown bugs found in my bed was stifled by the front desk worker, who very unsympathetically told me that they must have just flown in through the window (and nestled under my covers). No further problems/bites, though, so it could have been possible. 6. Location was convenient, very close to Hauptbahnhof, but the street seemed a little seedy after dark.
“Read room descriptions carefully”
I arrived, traveling alone, and having selected an economy room, found that "economy" room amenities are sink, radio and dormer window. Toilet is next door (or down the hall), and shower may be had by asking at the desk. After recovering from shock, I decided to keep the room and pretend I was a starving artist in Paris, 1930. Oh, and the elevator doesn't go to the "economy" floor. On the positive side, the room was extremely clean and quiet, breakfast was terrific, the staff very nice and location can't be beat- one block from main rail station. Tour buses sell tickets and begin their trips just two blocks away. Other rooms are equipped with more amenities for extra $. However, if you don't plan to spend much time in your room, "economy" was a good deal. Definitely read the fine print before clicking "book now."
“Good Breakfast”
Good location close to the train station. Nice breakfast in a large dining area. Comfortable room, though the beds were pretty hard. Parking was NOT available as expected. We got a ticket although we had the hotel card in our windshield as per the desk. Cost 10 euros to pay a 5 euro ticket...
