Better reception trainingPosted Apr 9, 2013
Location: opposite sex shop and next to kebab shop. Handy for the station.
When I arrived the receptionist said that they had no record of my booking. When I showed my paperwork they were not impressed and said that it was not on their computer. Implying tough look. When I asked them to phone expedia they said they could not. So a stressful arrival. Only when I insisted that I had already paid did they make any effort to look for some paperwork which they found quite quickly. No real apology. This was a hotel in a secret saver deal. The discount was insignificant when checked with prices on other sites. I was a little disappointed and would not go for that deal again.

Dear guest, unfortunately we can not follow up your complaint because of missing detailed information. It could be that your first- and surename was switched, but Expedia reservations are all listet in our computer (like all the other reservations, too) so that they can't get lost. All of them are already paid. If you can provide us further informations regarding your stay (use the email@example.com) we can check up again for you what happened. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Accessible good overnight hotelPosted Feb 14, 2013
Pros: Location accessibility
Cons: Location environment
Location: Accessible to train but surrounded by night life
The hotel is just outside the train terminal, internet is efficient and staff are kind. The neighborhood is well accessible but between night clubs - somehow mixed experience.

Central locationPosted Sep 6, 2012
Pros: The staff were very courteous and the breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful.
Cons: Very small lobby
Location: Close to the main railway station which was good, but the hotel's street location is a little busy.
If central location close to the train is what you are after, then this hotel is great. Although the street is noisy, double glazing keeps the noise out. The area could be considered sleazy, but it was ok, and we didn't feel uncomfortable. The Hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. But I didn't consider it great value for money.

Top Conrad Hotel DeVille MunichPosted Aug 3, 2011
This was an excellent hotel - It's very close to the Munich Hauptbahnhof, the rooms are very clean, spacious (unusual for Europe - I had quite a bit of floor space) and comfortable. The wireless internet connection is very good (and also free, another plus). Breakfast is not included, but is only seven euros. Check in and check out went smoothly and the staff are very friendly. My only complaint is that the city side rooms can get a little noisy as they face a street that can get pretty loud at night. Closing the windows and the curtains blocks the noise, but as the hotel does not have air conditioning, the rooms can get pretty hot with the windows closed, especially in the summer. The surrounding area is a little shady, but nothing too scary - you'd probably wouldn't want to spend too much time out there at night, but then again, it's just like any major city. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Munich (especially if you're sick of hotels charging for wireless - in this day and age, charging for wireless internet access is kind of ridiculous).

Great location, very noisy!Posted Jul 13, 2011
The lobby bar/restaurant was quite nice with a flat screen t.v. to watch soccer matches and have a drink. The staff were very competent and accommodating. Their English was excellent (thank goodness because my German is non-existent). The only problem with the hotel is that it was quite noisy. During the day, who cares because who is in their hotel room anyway? At night, and I mean all night long, the colorful neighbors (there are some seedy looking sex shops or whatever on the same block) never slept. I thought, do these people not have jobs? Fortunately, I sleep like a rock and eventually fell asleep, but the average person would not have slept a wink. The hotel itself is very clean and modern, with elevators. The room was small but had a phone, t.v., and good size bathroom. They also give complimentary bottled water. It was very warm as I was on the top floor and there is no air conditioning. Good for a single traveler and an adventurous couple. If I had kids or anyone high maintenance, I would not stay here.

Convenient, but there are better choicesPosted Jul 1, 2011
We stayed for 3 nights in June, 2011. The hotel is within half a block of the main Munich train station, the Hauptbahnhof station, but it is located in a seedy area with a Dubia Internet Room next door and porn theaters down the block. A few blocks over or on the other side of the station, the neighborhood improves, but there is a 2 or 3 block area that is very poor and the hotel is in it. The other issue is the staff. They were abrupt and less than helpful not only to us but to other guests we observed while in the lobby. I would recommend passing on this hotel and looking for other choices around the main train station.

Tremendous Value for MoneyPosted Jun 18, 2011
Spotless room and other common areas, fast Internet connection, and a staff that speaks perfect English and can't seem to do enough for you all make for tremendous value. Yes, the rooms are small and and furnished with very basic furniture rather than fake antiques, but otherwise I found no difference with hotels in Munich costing two to three times as much. The TOP Conrad is very conveniently located one block from the main Munich train and subway station. This is also the start of the main Munich pedestrian mall that stretches for a mile or more. Older or unseasoned travelers, however, may be intimidated by the predominantly immigrant neigborhood and/or the couple of strip bars at the end of the street on which the hotel is located.
