Munich Hotel in a sleazy area.

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The staff spoke English and were helpful. The hotel restaurant was nice. The rooms were small but clean.
Cons: Enlarge the lobby and have better internet access in the lobby. Add room service.
Location: Train station, City Center, cheap shopping on the street and nice shops in City Center, strip clubs.
The hotel itself was ok but the lobby was crowded and small. But the neighborhood was definitely "red light." We picked the hotel because it was near the Munich train station and City Center and it was reasonably priced. But the neighborhood was uncomfortable to walk through with strip clubs, porno shops and casinos.

Dear Carol, hank you very much for having taken the time to comment on your stay with us at the Courtyard Munich City Center. I am sorry that you didn't like the area in which our hotel is situated. Our property is located just 3 minutes (one block) walking distance from the central train station. The old town part with Marienplatz is within walking distance of the hotel as well. We can assure our guests that the area around the hotel is as safe as all other parts of Munich. Munich was reported to be the safest German city in 2012. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us and shareing it with the Expedia Community. Sincerely, Nizar C Front Office Manager

A massive let down

Stayed at the Marriott for one night and I must say this is, by a long mile, the worst hotel experience I’ve had to date. The check-in staff could hardly make an effort to be nice. They make you feel as if they are doing you a favour by letting you stay there. In general I found the staff very condescending and extremely unfriendly. The hotel itself is situated in a rather dodgy and, to say the least, very grotty area. The hotel amenities are poor - towels are threadbare, toiletries are cheap and basic, wifi isn’t free, no minibar (at least there was nothing in the fridge. Why have a minibar if it’s not stocked?). The room was noisy. I could hear everyone in the adjacent rooms, the toilets being flushed, wardrobes being closed etc. In the morning I was woken up by a constant thud as other guests moved around their rooms. Avoid this hotel at all costs but if you choose to stay there, I’m sure you’d enjoy the proximity to the central train station, shops etc. But there are dozens of hotels in the centre (albeit cheaper) and I’m sure many of them offer a better overall experience than the Marriott. To sum my experience up in one word: nightmare!

Dear Anon, thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us on Expedia. I am deeply sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Please accept my sincere apologies for the fact that we didn't make you feel welcome at our hotel like you would have deserved it. Please note that the empty minibar is a worldwide Courtyard standard. Instead we do offer a 24h market in the Lobby where our guests can choose from a wide variety of snacks and drinks. Once again, I am sorry you weren't able to enjoy your stay. Thank you again for your valued opinion. Sincerely, Nizar C. Front Office Manager

Near train station, but as a result, you get the rougher parts of town. Other than that, it was a good hotel to stay in during our visit.
