“A Superb Location”
I have just recently returned from my second stay at The Platzl. The last time was in 2008. The hotel is in a superb location right in the heart of the Old Town and within a block or two of the Marienplatz, the opera house and the Maximilianstrasse, the City's top shopping street. The famous Hofbrauhaus is across the street from the hotel and the Hard Rock Cafe is located in the hotel. Rooms are on the small side, but extremely clean and comfortable. Most rooms do not have bathtubs so if this is important to you request a room with a tub when you book. The breakfast buffet provided with most room rates is outstanding. Aside from the array of foods presented at the buffet, you can also order made to order waffles, eggs and Weisswurst Munich's white breakfast sausages. The only thing that I could find to improve here is their concierge services. Although staff at the front desk tried to be helpful they were not particularly knowledgeable about places of interest except for the most popular ones.
“Perfection in Munich”
We have been to Munich many times before but never stayed in the central city as we were there to attend to aging family. Sadly they have all gone on. This trip was all about us and really enjoying Munich. The Platzl was the Perfect location about two blocks off the Marienplatz and just around the corner from the Hofbrau Haus you cant get any closer to the action than that. We decided to take the junior suite as we know from past experiences that the typical german hotel room can be well a bit cozy?. the suite was well sized with separate parlor and bedroom as well as a separate WC and shower areas, the shower has great water pressure. The beds (as always it seems) are hard by American standards but not too bad. The pillows were a bit soft The TV choices in english are limited (maybe TNT or USA would be a good choice) but I did not really come to watch TV. The food in the Breakfast room was everything we expected and more, being acquainted with the customary Munich hotel breakfast from previous trips (which was always good) the Platzl takes it up a notch or two. The selections are varied and tasty, I especially liked the cured meats and the ability to order eggs and of course the fabulous Munchener weisswust made it all the better. The service was accommodating The front desk staff was friendly, helpful and informative, kudos to them. Our room was well kept each day and we felt very comfortable there. If you are looking for 1st class accommodations, This is it!
“Favorite small hotel in Altstadt Munich”
Great beds, small comfortable rooms, spotless, excellent European breakfast buffet, attentive staff, small lobby bar, best location near Marienplatz, Hofbrauhaus across the street. I always stay at the Platzl when visiting Munich.
“Class Act in Bavaria”
The Platzl Hotel is Bavarian Hospitality at its finest in one of the premier cities in the world - MĂĽnchen. The ambiance of the Platzl complements perfectly the fascination that most of us harbor for Germany in general and Bavaria in particular. The Platzl staff is very professional and they focus intently on total customer service. They are helpful and friendly and extremely knowledgeable. In the middle of a very large city, one knows, personally and intuitively, that one is "family" while staying at the Platzl. An extraordinary experience for those of us jaded by big-city, sterile, hotel experiences around the world. One needs no car if one stays at the Platzl - the U-Bahn and S-Bahn at the Marienplatz are literally just around the corner. One can get to/from the airport by S-Bahn (the Platzl can provide you the ticket). In fact, one can get to any location in the MĂĽnchen area by bus, tram, S-Bahn or U-Bahn. The breakfast buffet at the Platzl is fabulous. The staff who work the breakfast are, themselves, professionals clearly held to the same standards of excellence in customer service that one finds at the front desk and throughout the hotel. Staying at the Platzl is, in itself, one of the major contributors to our appreciation and enjoyment of spending quality time in MĂĽnchen. I wholeheartedly recommend the Platzl hotel to anyone and everyone - singles, couples, families - visiting this corner of Bavaria. You won't be disappointed.
“One of Munich's best”
This was my second time staying here. This was our honeymoon trip. The staff is always available and friendly. Rooms are top notch and location second to none, right in the heart of Munich. No need to take a taxi, S-Bahn takes you right to Marienplatz and it's only a very short walk to the hotel. The only thing we would like to see would be free internet for the price you pay for the room. Other than that we will definitely be staying here again.
