“Great hotel”
Had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The pool is amazing and have a feel of King Ludwig II grotto. Excellent spa, equisite details. Enjoyed the stay at this hotel.
“Perfect hotel, will return happily”
The hotel is a very interesting contrast between the old world exterior and the ultra modern lobby and rooms. Upon our arrival we were given an upgrade to a junior suite on the 3rd floor which I didn't like because it had a very strange floor plan with the bathtub practically in the living room and the windows were too high. The charming and very patient gentleman in charge of the front desk, Mr. Doro, immediately offered us another suite and took us there himself to be sure I was satisfied...I was! We got a beautiful loft with a huge window on the 8th floor that was absolutely perfect. The service in the restaurants, room service and bar was impeccable. The concierges were very attentive and helped us with our special requirements including a private tour of one of the breweries. All in all, a perfect hotel! The only down side would be that it is a bit too near the train station but it is something easily overlooked when everything else is so good.
“would definitely go back”
Top notch hotel, great service, very clean. It is what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. It is located right outside of the central train station, at the same time, very quiet. Depending on who you are traveling with the hotel bathroom might not be the most private as it has a sliding slightly opened door. I would definitely stay here on my next trip to Munich.
“Great Experience”
Experience was great - after an overnight flight from the US I walked into the hotel and was in my room within 10 minutes and the staff was very helpful and room service was EXTREMELY prompt and the food was great.
“HighlyRecommend”
This hotel is a former post office, but you would never know it. It is expertly designed. The room was extremely comfortable, in particular the bathroom. There is plenty of counterspace and the shower is the best I've experienced in Europe. The room also had a nice Bose stereo with an iPod docking station. The room size was on par with a US hotel room. My only complaint is that the king size bed (really 2 singles pushed together) easily slid apart due to the fact that there are wood floors. Management needs to correct this. Other than this small issue, no complaints. Also FYI for claustophobes like myself, the elevators are very large, again comparable to those in the US. I requested a room on a lower floor to avoid the elevators (thinking they might be small) and was accomodated with a room on the second floor which provided excellent access to a very large stairway leading to the lobby. One other issue, no decent sit-down restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, but plenty of takeout places as well as Burger King and Starbucks just inside the train station which is adjacent to the hotel. Starbucks has free internet otherwise you have to pay at the hotel. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Munich.
“A big "surprise"”
This is very modernistic style hotel (not recommended for those who like classic). Room was planned so, that WC is not really isolated approprately (only glass door) - so I really did not like this kind of "privacy" at all! (taking into account that we stayed with my girlfriend in this room). I do not reccomend this hotel for romantic stay...
“Not for newlyweds”
Being forced to accept 2 single beds shoved together as a substitute for a king bed should not be part of a 5 star hotel experience. Otherwise, the hotel had a very serene, modern, otherworldly feel to it. The breakfast was very good. Their bistro restaurant was a "cold" experience --- not much life in it. The front desk personnel were knowledgeable.
“Wold love to go back but it is cost prohibitive for us. A little pricey.”
Nice place but expensive and in a shady neighborhood
“Wonderful experience”
Staff was wonderful! Location is well placed to get around City (near main train station)--- although a little bit of walk to the center of the old city and Marienplatz (about 10 minutes)--- i found it well situated. VERY modern--- but cool vib. Would definitely return
“Excellent! Comfortable and Stylish”
The hotel is elegant, politely staffed, has clean comfortable rooms with extras such as in room espresso that was great. I have stayed at this hotel before and was looking forward to staying there again. It is conveniently located next to the Hauptbahnhof (subway/train station) which can take you most anywhere around Munich and has numerous shops and eating establishments. It is a short walk to the Marienplatz. I stayed in 3 other hotels during this European trip and the Sofitel was far above the others.
