Hotel is in a fairly rough area of Munich

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Spa are and general ambiance.
Cons: Improve check-in and check-out process.
Location: As mentioned - not a great area, though only a couple of stops into the Altstadt. You wouldn't want to hang around outside the hotel at night.
Check-in was guaranteed for 3pm but we didn't get in to our room until 4.20pm. Prices in the bar were extortionate - €43 for G&Ts! Equally, whilst quality and variety of breakfast is very good, price was ridiculous. Bistro is very small, whilst main restaurant (Black & White) no longer seems to be open in the evenings. Spa area very good. High quality hotel but the prices really can't be justified - particularly given that the hotel is located in a less than desirable (nor particularly safe) area. Check-out process was extremely slow - despite a plethora of staff, very few seemed to be actively engaged in checking guests out.

Dark Bathroom

Posted Aug 18, 2014
The bathroom was quite dark. This made it hard to shave in the morning.

First class hotel in third class location

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Stayed here with my family and loved everything about the Sofitel except its location. Modern design, nice rooms, and fantastic pool/spa, but located next to the train station which is unfortunately a grimy area. Have to walk through it (4-5 blocks) before entering the old city.

Dear FJK, Thank you for this great feedback! Of course, our location next to the central station has as well advantages as disadvantages. On the letter we are working together with the city of Munich and the station management. However, we are proud to offer the best possible access to all means of public transport. Fab location

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: The pool, the comfortable beds
Cons: Clearing the hallways of room service trays and rubbish left by guests a little faster
Location: Right by the station
This chic hotel is inside a gorgeous old building right next to the Hauptbahnhof and within walking distance of central Munich. The interior is very modern and it has one of the most unusual pools - a dark, subterranean spiral with spa jets at one end. The service was efficient, although I expected a little more from a 5-star establishment - just a few minor points they missed. Overall though, a nice place.

Wonderful hotel, most convenient location, A

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: The staff is very friendly and the rooms and hotel are very clean. Convenience to the train station is a big plus. The spa is amazing and relaxing.
Cons: More food options would be great. Only a French restaurant for dinner. Ordered room service once for breakfast and it was hardly any food.
Location: The hotel is right next to the Munich hauptbahnhof (main train station) and it is very easy to take the subway, trains, and trolly's around the city.
Our experience at the Munich Sofitel was incredible! We were in Munich for our honeymoon and wanted to pick the 5 star rated hotel for some luxury and relaxation. We definitely got that. The staff was on point and professional at every interaction. They always had a smile on their faces and said Hello. All of the staff spoke English, which was nice. The room was wonderful - very clean and nice. The turn down service every night with Evian and a chocolate was a nice bonus to come back to after a long day of exploring the city! And the hotel spa: incredibly relaxing. We didn't get any services but did enjoy the steam, sauna, and pool. The pool is a must! Also enjoyed the location of the hotel, was very convenient, right next to the hauptbahnhof (main train station). We jumped on the subway and trolly a lot to get to other points in the city. There are not a lot of good restaurants (sit down style) around the hotel, so you may have to take a short walk for a good Bavarian meal, but we would highly recommend having a few meals from the vendors in the train station. We walked over there for breakfast almost every morning, and even grabbed some quick sausages and a bottle of beer for dinner a couple of nights and just took that back to the room to eat. Good food! Not a lot of food options in the hotel. We ordered room service breakfast one day and it was just not enough. Recommended: the English Garden, Nymphenburg palace, a day trip to Nuremburg, Mike's Bikes for a fun day trip!

Great location and experience

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Central location. Lovely old building. Sleek inside.
Location: 2 minute walk to the train station - we had a wonderful day trip by train to Salzburg. Old Munich is 2 blocks. Taxis to Olympic Park, BMW Welt etc.
We stayed for 3 nights and wanted a central location but top-notch amenities. Sofitel was just that - very cool!

Near the Banhof

Posted Jul 21, 2014
The hotel was fine--the location as good as any and an easy walk from the train station. I am wondering if any other patrons would comment on what, exactly, the 35 Euro Breakfast has that makes it so expensive. We find an excellent breakfast buffet and the department store a few blocks away for less than 10 Euro, but I do wonder what we missed.

Dear Clay, Thank you for commenting on your stay at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. The time you visit you should try our breakfast to see for yourself why it costs 35€. We offer a vast variety of items ranging from typical Bavarian Weißwurst to our healthy corner with freshly sliced fruit, a wide range auf Muesli and grain, fruit and vegetable smoothies, not counting to large choice of bread and pastries. Overall good experience except they did not tell is until check-in the pool was going to be closed and we would have to go to another hotel if we wanted to swim.

Next to station - convenient for rail travellers

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Quiet room (ask for one that is in the centre block that has no street aspect).
Cons: Pillows very bulky - could have at least one that's thinner.
Location: Ideal for the station if you want to go out of town (eg to the lakes). Not so central if you want to do the shops, museums, cultural stuff.
Very helpful staff. Clean room. Spa out of action for planned maintenance but they did a deal with the hotel opposite for guests to use that one - shows good planning. Breakfast very, very expensive - I asked for a reduced rate if I agreed to have their breakfast every day of my stay, but it didn't work. So I used the many nice cafes nearby for breakfast.
