great hotel, great location

Posted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: everything, it is an excellent hotel, the location and quality is first class
Cons: make a small charity donation for the little yellow ducks?
Location: ideal location, next to the main train station, very central
this is a fantastic hotel in a great location, next to the main train station (no noise) and a nice walk to the main centre. I was upgraded to a Duplex suite which was amazing. the room and facilities were really trendy, comfortable and what you would expect from a top level hotel. I have stopped in some fabulous hotels around the world and this will be in my top 5. the breakfast is quite expensive but very well worth it as the selection covers every option, if you are hungry after a breakfast in this hotel then you must be the most fussy of eaters?

Nice, business oriented hotel situated right next to Hauptbahnhof. Some of the reception staff during checkout were a bit unprofessional, but that could've been due to the morning after the final world cup game.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your comment. I am sorry that you did not experience the high standard of service you may expect from us. A World Cup Final (even though we won) should never be a reason for a lack in professionalism. Please rest assured that we will use your feedback to improve our performance. Poor staff

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Overall quality is good
Cons: Staff response
Location: Care re beggars around the train station. Just need to walk a few hundred metres until in a better touristy area
No big issue but when you have been travelling since 3am the previous morning it is very poor when only 1 of 3 rooms is ready at the 3 o'clock book in time. In the end had 5 of us all waiting in 1 room for over an hour and a half whilst the other 2 rooms were readied. Had to ring a number of times to chase them up and then in the end went back down to pick up the keys after waiting for them after being told "they were on their way". Good hotel although the immediate area near the station is a little 'rough' but we were very surprised by the tardy staff. What happened to the famed German efficiency

Dear David, Thank you for sharing your experience at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. You are right, your rooms should have been ready at 3 pm and if we say that we bring the keys to the missing rooms to you, we should have done so. I can only apologize and hope that you will give us a chance to prove that we are well up to deliver the service you may expect from a hotel of our category. Best regards Katja Herrmann Hotel Manager

Hotel is in a fairly rough area of Munich

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Spa are and general ambiance.
Cons: Improve check-in and check-out process.
Location: As mentioned - not a great area, though only a couple of stops into the Altstadt. You wouldn't want to hang around outside the hotel at night.
Check-in was guaranteed for 3pm but we didn't get in to our room until 4.20pm. Prices in the bar were extortionate - €43 for G&Ts! Equally, whilst quality and variety of breakfast is very good, price was ridiculous. Bistro is very small, whilst main restaurant (Black & White) no longer seems to be open in the evenings. Spa area very good. High quality hotel but the prices really can't be justified - particularly given that the hotel is located in a less than desirable (nor particularly safe) area. Check-out process was extremely slow - despite a plethora of staff, very few seemed to be actively engaged in checking guests out.

Dark Bathroom

The bathroom was quite dark. This made it hard to shave in the morning.

First class hotel in third class location

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Stayed here with my family and loved everything about the Sofitel except its location. Modern design, nice rooms, and fantastic pool/spa, but located next to the train station which is unfortunately a grimy area. Have to walk through it (4-5 blocks) before entering the old city.

Dear FJK, Thank you for this great feedback! Of course, our location next to the central station has as well advantages as disadvantages. On the letter we are working together with the city of Munich and the station management. However, we are proud to offer the best possible access to all means of public transport. Fab location

Posted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: The pool, the comfortable beds
Cons: Clearing the hallways of room service trays and rubbish left by guests a little faster
Location: Right by the station
This chic hotel is inside a gorgeous old building right next to the Hauptbahnhof and within walking distance of central Munich. The interior is very modern and it has one of the most unusual pools - a dark, subterranean spiral with spa jets at one end. The service was efficient, although I expected a little more from a 5-star establishment - just a few minor points they missed. Overall though, a nice place.

Wonderful hotel, most convenient location, A

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: The staff is very friendly and the rooms and hotel are very clean. Convenience to the train station is a big plus. The spa is amazing and relaxing.
Cons: More food options would be great. Only a French restaurant for dinner. Ordered room service once for breakfast and it was hardly any food.
Location: The hotel is right next to the Munich hauptbahnhof (main train station) and it is very easy to take the subway, trains, and trolly's around the city.
Our experience at the Munich Sofitel was incredible! We were in Munich for our honeymoon and wanted to pick the 5 star rated hotel for some luxury and relaxation. We definitely got that. The staff was on point and professional at every interaction. They always had a smile on their faces and said Hello. All of the staff spoke English, which was nice. The room was wonderful - very clean and nice. The turn down service every night with Evian and a chocolate was a nice bonus to come back to after a long day of exploring the city! And the hotel spa: incredibly relaxing. We didn't get any services but did enjoy the steam, sauna, and pool. The pool is a must! Also enjoyed the location of the hotel, was very convenient, right next to the hauptbahnhof (main train station). We jumped on the subway and trolly a lot to get to other points in the city. There are not a lot of good restaurants (sit down style) around the hotel, so you may have to take a short walk for a good Bavarian meal, but we would highly recommend having a few meals from the vendors in the train station. We walked over there for breakfast almost every morning, and even grabbed some quick sausages and a bottle of beer for dinner a couple of nights and just took that back to the room to eat. Good food! Not a lot of food options in the hotel. We ordered room service breakfast one day and it was just not enough. Recommended: the English Garden, Nymphenburg palace, a day trip to Nuremburg, Mike's Bikes for a fun day trip!

Great location and experience

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Central location. Lovely old building. Sleek inside.
Location: 2 minute walk to the train station - we had a wonderful day trip by train to Salzburg. Old Munich is 2 blocks. Taxis to Olympic Park, BMW Welt etc.
We stayed for 3 nights and wanted a central location but top-notch amenities. Sofitel was just that - very cool!
